So I'm back, and for us Orthodox Christians, we just celebrated Easter, also known as Pascha-the Resurrection of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, this past Sunday.
However on Saturday is the day we solemnly, but also eagerly await His Resurrection, and so in Orthodox Churches all across the globe, an icon of Christ in the tomb is present. We make over ourselves the Sign of the Cross thrice, bow thrice, kneel once before the icon on our knees, and kiss the five wounds of Christ, and the Gospel book which is placed atop the icon. It is a holy tradition that dates back millennia, and I was lucky enough to participate in it in a Russian Orthodox Church in Boston, and of course take some photos of the magnificent church afterward. Here are the two photos I took of the Burial Tomb.
