Preview - Action & Adventure Anime in Fall 2016

Today in this preview blog I'll talk about action and adventure anime. I found five anime which suit that theme and I think are mentionable.

Please be sure to read this blog even if you don't like that kind of genre. The anime I've chosen don't have to fit that theme perfectly and the most have other important genre than just one. I only sort the anime by the information I have and this information can sometimes be lacking (especially with original anime), so don't be mad if you think the anime doesn't fit the overall theme of this blog.

Flip Flappers

『SUMMARY』

Papika and Cocona hold the keys to open the door. When the two girls meet, their adventures in a different time and different overlapping dimension called "Pure Illusion" begin. Many things in Pure Illusion will stand in the girls' way on their search for the mysterious crystal called the "Shard of Mimi," an item that is said to grant any wish. However, when the girls find themselves in danger, the Shard of Mimi shines, and they are able to transform.

Flip Flappers is an original anime produced by InfiniteEpisodes 1, 2 and 3 have been previewed at a screening at Cinemart Shinjuku on September 22, 2016. Regular broadcasting will begin on October 6, 2016.

The anime seems really bright with many scenes that can make you smile. The animation style is not the typical one, but I like it and the music also sounds really good.

ViVid Strike is part of the Magical Girl Lyrica Nanoha franchise. There have been no further animation about how this series will fit in to the other Magical Girl Lyrica Nanoha anime. However, there are characters from Magical Girl Lyrica Nanoha ViVid, the previous anime of the franchise.

I'm personally not interested in this anime as I haven't watched even one of the four anime of this franchise. I guess if you watched the previous anime you'll watch this one as well, but for everyone else it shouldn't be so interesting.

『SUMMARY』

60 years ago, a strange case of insomnia struck the population, forcing them to stay awake for more than a full week. The victims, completely sleep deprived, all went mad. To cure this illness, a new medicine was produced, but the side effects turned the patients into vampires. Humanity went to war against this new species and triumphed, but some of the vampires managed to survive. Born from a Human and a Vampire, the main character Mi Liu, “The Child of Hope”, is to represent the new hope that will connect the two species. Ringleader of a bank robbery, Mi Liu is arrested and transferred to a special prison of the National Defense Agency that monitors Vampires. Trying to break free with Anji, Mi Liu is attacked by strange monsters and he finds out that the prison location corresponds to the birthplace of Vampires, the old capital “Blue Town." Why are Vampires trapped in Blue Town? What are those strange monsters attacking them? Our heroes must fight to solve those mysteries.

Bloodivores is based on a Chinese web comic by Bai Xiao. Chen Ye is directing the anime at and Creators in Pack, with Masashi Nakamura credited as chief director. Emon was established in October 2015 as the Japanese branch of Haoliners, an animation brand based in Shanghai.

The trailer shows exactly the kind of anime I like. Action, blood and exploding heads. The animation style seems to be good, especially the first half of the trailer looked promising. Now to the sound.... Was that really Chinese in the trailer? It didn't sound like Japanese. Well, don't worry, there'll also be a version with Japanese cast.

Drifters

『SUMMARY』

Shimazu Toyohisa, whilst involved at the Battle of Sekigahara, manages to mortally wound Ii Naomasa, but is critically wounded in the process. As he walks from the field broken and bleeding, Toyohisa finds himself transported to a corridor of doors, where a bespectacled man at a desk waits for him. This man, Murasaki, sends Toyohisa into the nearest door where he wakes up in another world. There, Toyohisa meets other great warriors like him who have been transported as well, to be part of a group known as "Drifters."

Drifters is an anime adaption of Kouta Hirano's same named manga. Hirano is most famous for his Hellsing manga. Episodes 1–3 of Drifters have been previewed at a screening at Shinjuku Wald 9 on September 11, 2016. Regular broadcasting will begin on October 7.

HYPE!! This is definitely the anime I'm most looking forward to this season. It looks like Hellsing Ultimate and the manga is from the same mangaka. I don't when I was last time so hyped for an anime ☆*:.｡. o(≧▽≦)o .｡.:*☆

Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru

『SUMMARY』

The year is 2205. The "historical revisionists" have begun attacks on the past in their plot to change history. The Saniwa, who have been charged with protecting history, can imbue life into objects. Strongest among these are the Touken Danshi. The story centers around their cheerful lives.

Touken Ranbu is a browser game by Nitroplus and DMM Games. The game is to receive two anime adaptions. The first anime is produced by Doga Kobo and will air this October. The second adaption will be produced by Ufotable and air in 2017.

I'm always sceptic when it comes to anime adaptions of browser games, especially when the browser game is a free-to-play collectible card game. Well, the animation doesn't look so bad. I guess I'll have to wait how this one turns out.
