The life story of Hai hu 海虎 chapter one

This original character started as a tongue-in-cheek reference to Uncle Iroh's title, " Dragon of the west." Water counters fire, and the Tiger counters the dragon in Chinese mythology. So the name Hai hu means." Sea Tiger" and seems a fitting rival to Uncle Iroh. So here we are; special thanks to Amazing earthbender )

Name:

Hai hu is not my character's birth name but a name he gave himself upon completing his training with the First blood bender Hama. He based the title on the tales of a tiger spirit that preys upon those who destroy the forest within the fire nation. The fact that he uses to his advantage, sowing fears in fire nation camps and resistance in local occupied villages, which stick paintings of the Tiger on their door against the Fire Nation.

Early life that ends in tragedy

" I love my parents, and they love me. However, we all love the water tribes so much. Today I apologise to my mother for not protecting my father and to my father for not bringing back my mother's bones. Only their wedding necklace together, I await their smiles in the spirit world."

A child of the northern and southern tribes, Hai hu father sailed from the northern tribe to the south with a small grouping of friends and family to rediscover their ancestry. Only to see the destruct and near collapse of the southern group. The man felt his duty to protect the family, so he stayed and married. The raiding against the southern tribe seems to stop. And the father taught his son both the art of bending from the North and the non-bending combats of the southern tribe. War is far away, with the mother praying to the spirits for protection and peace. For fifteen years, it worked, then it did not. The father, son and the other men were out for a few days to fish. It was bountiful then they arrived at their village only to shriek of tears and angst of the elders and children. Fire benders took the young women. They are alleging to find the avatar and the last water bender. As the only two benders left in the tribe, the father took out his emotions for failure from love to abuse upon the child. The villagers could do nothing but watch for their survival in the hands of the benders. The father started training by kicking the son encased up to his neck in the ice into the freezing water. He was forcing the child to bend with his eyes. There the father sends waves of iced water, attempting to drown the child, only stopping till it always seems too late. The elders wept silently after the father pulled out the water leaving the child broken and hungry. Berating and physical threats of violence from the father contest every attempt to nourish and love the child. After three months, the child learned, yet he never spoke again. The child bends the water and ice with the mere motions of his eyes and mind. Yet the abuse continues. There are no drills but combat. For two years, the child is always beaten and lying on his back as the assault of words desensitised his mind to the darkness. Till the day he defeated his father and brought down a pile of ice.

His father twitches and struggles like his son under the wave, yet this time no one else could save him or his son. Blood stains on the cold, beautiful snow, the training is finally over but what the price?
