CAPTAIN’s Weekend Challenge: #NsbmWarMetal

National Socialist Black Metal (NSBM) survives in one of the most frowned upon corners in all of Black Metal. No matter your personal views on the lyrical subject matter or basic theme of NSBM, the music can be magnificent. I want to thank Lady NeCrow for bringing this controversial music to our Weekend Challenge. I feel that our Community is mature enough to handle this topic and embrace the music just as we would any other subgenre within Black Metal. If anyone has an issue with NSBM, the War Metal option is the perfect way to share your savage music with everyone. I’m thrilled to present some of my favorite NSBM bands.

Hailing from Virginia, U.S.A. is GRAND BELIAL’s KEY. This band has an interesting musical sound to where you can witness the music mature & deepen as each album unfolds. The tangible feel of every note reminds me of just how real this music is. Where the rubber meets the road is the sensation perceived with every measure.

The Ukrainian band, HATE FOREST is up next. Roman Saenko (DRUDKH) led this project of fast paced Black Metal music. The band stayed rather secretive when it involved self promotion or dealing with the media. They created a wealth of material that is enJOYable by any fan of Pagan or Ambient Black Metal.

Now, my favorite NSBM band of all...GOATMOON. This Finnish group has written a catalog of outstanding music since they began in 2002. The ion and melody work together so well. They will always pull at your inner most spirit of pride. No matter how you like your NSBM, raw or polished, they have something for you.

More wonderful Ukrainian Black Metal to add in my list. NOKTURNAL MORTUM is a Folk/Pagan/NSBM outfit that rises above the mediocrity. They do an excellent job with Symphonic touches while making beautiful music. They straddle that invisible line between NSBM and Paganism. Either way you look at it, these guys are fantastic.

Keeping with my fabulous Ukrainian roll of awesomeness, up next is KRODA. They also walk that tightrope of NSBM & Paganism. They celebrate their heritage with pride and base their music around it. Another band that can incorporate Ambient texture into the music so well.

My final NSBM selection this weekend is XENOPHOBIA. They originated in Illinois, U.S.A. These guys are pure :100: straight to the bone raw NSBM. They were even card carrying of The Pagan Front movement. Regardless, their music is bad ass AF!

That wraps up the NSBM bands I wanted to include for this weekend. Since our host was kind enough to include War Metal in this Challenge, I would like to share one more band.

TEITANBLOOD is a War Metal band from Madrid, Spain. They are fast and aggressive with Black/Death/War Metal flavor. The music sounds killer and explosive. When desiring an adrenaline rush, look no further.

In this Weekend Challenge entry I have attempted to include some of my favorite NSBM bands. The music itself is what I enJOY the most. I’m hoping to read many other blogs on this topic over the coming weekend. My mind is always open to discovering new extreme music. I hope each of you has a “blackened” weekend.
