Hello hi and welcome to this blog!
I've been using a new journal since september and now seems to be the time I'll sit down and talk about it.
Also because it's going to be 2020 in a week...

I got a Leuchtturm 1917 in bronze, since so many talk about it being THE notebook for journaling, and I can say - I'm sadly not that impressed now as I was at first...
I thought the ghosting couldn't be that bad, but oh well, it is...
Everything else is lovely, two bookmarks, an envelope in the back, table of contents, numbered pages, beautiful color and smooth paper. I imagined the ghosting would get on my nerves but it's worse than I thought, but I won't throw the journal away for that reason (at least for now) I'll fill it up quickly and soon forget about it. Too bad it has 250 pages RIP.

Sadly I'm not good at keeping up birthdays right now, barely using this spread at the moment

Here I tried using a calendex but it does not work out with all the stress :/

I put some big animal crossing: pocket camp spreads into it and use as much as I can for exam preparation and study schedules etc... Still no where near the end.
In another post I'll talk about the Lemome I once had, but one thing I can tell you is, that the best journal I had since now, was the essentials dot matrix. I miss my first journal, it was beautiful.
Maybe I'll buy another one of those notebooks in the future instead of searching for something else and then being disappointed :')
...too bad I already got a little notebook from muji to test hehe :eyes:

I also got a leuchtturm a few months ago and never realised ghosting would be so bad! it ruined the experience for me and I hardly use it even tho I set up 3 months in it lol I have gotten back into using Kikki K ringbound planner now as I managed to find a zipped planner on sale! also using a travelers notebook for bullet journaling
I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience. I feel you!! Glad you found your love for journaling again  travelers are very interesting, but I'm not sure how to use them efficiently. Doesn't it get filled up pretty fast? I'm worrying that I would throw out my money just for the inserts...

yes travelers inserts get full quite quick, can fit about 3 months in one book, so would need 4 for one year. I buy my inserts on etsy. sometimes amazon also sell good ones.
best bullet journals I've had so far include nuuna, rhodia and lemome - no ghosting! all good quality.

The inserts would be less expensive than a whole notebook in the end :joy:
3 months is okay for one insert, so I might try it soon
I would try the inserts from aliexpress though first, because they're cheaper for the first try
I had the lemome before this one and I wasn't pleased, sadly :/
I've heard several good things about the nuuna, so that's an option, too.
In the rarest cases I've heard people even talk about the rhodia, but it was always something positive. So theese 3 are options for the future.
Have you ever tried Muji Notebooks?
Haha, the Leucht are terrible with ghosting. I must say, though, there is rarely ever any bleeding despite how easily it ghosts. I sometimes use water colour pencils (with lots of water) on mine and haven't had much of an issue.
I'm sorry to hear many of your spreads aren't working out for you! The calendex is quite complex, so that makes sense. And for me, if birthdays are on a separate spread, I wouldn't check them either! Haha.
Hopefully, you find things that work for you. Have fun!
Yeah ghosting is my main problem :/ sadly I don't use watercolors that often (simply because I'm heckin bad at it) and I don't have much time to take to journal since it's study season again.
I'm going to ditch the calendex and try a simple future log with color coding again.
No more extra spreads, everything will go into the same future log :joy: learning new things every day, haha.
Thank you for your input!

Yup! Always start simple, I think is the key. Less pressure. (:
I'm currently setting up my 2020 in a new lt for the first time as well, and I must say, the ghosting works on my nerves too
Some of the pens I like to use even downright bleed through. I'll see how long I'll last in this notebook.

OMG yes the fudenosuke is really bad :'(
Too bad, wanted the crayola ones for so long, maybe for the next Journal... Don't want them to dry up while I fill up the LT :joy:

Well, if you lightly use them, it isn't that bad, but as soon as you push on them or layer them, it bleeds. But I found that the kuretake hikkei (hopefully I'm correct) works well in the LT and I actually prefer it over the fudenosuke now for calligraphy ^^

Oh really!? Thanks for the hint, I'll check them out
I have a Lemome currently and I love it. The faux black leather is awesome, it has enough pages for me and the paper is super thick. I've never tried a Leuchtturm but after reading reviews on it I can tell that it's not the journal for me. I started using my journal in September and Ill get through January before switching journals. I'll most likely be using Lemome's for quite some time, they are truly awesome journals. But I'll keep the Essentials journal in mind!
I liked those features too! A lot actually.
I was sure about the LT being not for me too, but I wanted it to work for me because it was copper :joy: don't be blinded by the beauty like me!!

They are gorgeous I'll have to it :joy:
Wow. This is gorgeous. You have such a clean and carefully done style. I love it
Thank you very much
