hihi everyone!

i probably asked this question in the past, but i'm still

kind of conflicted about what i should major in.

so some bg context, during my sophomore yr of hs i

told my counselor that i wanted to major in computer

science, and i took reasonable   classes   that   fall

under the math/business category. but then during

my junior   yr   (aka   last   school   year),   i   told my

counselor that i wanted to major in graphic design

and minor in computer science, and i'll be taking

more art classes this school year   (aka

my senior yr of hs). for a while now i've   always

been   debating   on   whether   i    should    take    on

programming   as    a    career    or    art,    since    i'm

interested   in    both    (though    i'm    leaning   more

towards art).

my conflict is this: i don't know if i should go back

to majoring in cs and   maybe   minor   in   graphic

design or if i should   continue   with   majoring in

graphic design and minor in   cs;   or   if   i should

double major in both??

if i do revert   back   to   computer   science,   i just

hope that i can tell my counselor before having

to apply to colleges. i also haven't taken the sat

yet, and i'm signed up for it around mid-august,

but i can no longer edit my form, more

specifically the part where it states what i plan

on   majoring   in.   aaaa   this    is     probably     me

overthinking things but i just tend to worry a lot

anyways— back on topic-ish

my dream career is to do   something   related   to

creating video games. i've always wanted to   be

a   character   designer    since    that's    what    i'm

more ionate in when it comes to art,   and   i

wouldn't mind being a level designer depending on

the game and whether or not i have the ion

for it.

so yeah,, i'd   like   to   hear   your   guys' thoughts

and opinions on   my   situation.   anyways-   that'll

be all for   now,,   stay   safe   and   have   a   good

day/night!

If it were me, I would probably try to double major, bc that's just kinda who I am, but I'm also extremely under qualified so you probably shouldn't consider this comment to help you make your decision

If it were me I would do CS because it’s a safer route. Based on my understanding, game design is really competitive and you could gain the skills to do it with a CS major but you’d also have a really strong fall back that would get you a good salary.

Don’t take my word as absolute though, as I haven’t researched Graphic Design majors much. Also it seems like you’re putting too much stock in what classes you take in high school. Take what you find interesting and fun.

Id say go for majoring in graphic design and minoring in cs. You would probably need as much knowlegde about deg video games in gd, and cs can help/teach you about computers (cs could then be incorporated/used to make video games). Sorry this may not make sense.
