So, I finally got my Dabi cosplay together! I’ve been working on this cosplay since early March of this year! I’ve been brainstorming ideas for even longer. Tbh, I’ve been a little intimidated by this character for a long time, I’ve been nervous about cosplaying as Dabi ever since I set my sights on cosplaying as him. There are certain characters who I look decent as and others that I don’t. So I’ve been nervous about dressing as this burnt chicken nugget, Haha, the burns were a little scary (Obviously Fake), and the wig was a little scary to style. The staples were TERRIFYING, I couldn’t decide between using real staples or just using small slivers of duck tape. I added up using the duck tape method in the end, I just cut ‘em down and glued them to my face. It’s not the most graceful approach but, it worked. I used basic lash glue to stick them to my face and body. It’s worked for my fake piercings before, so I was confident that it would work for the tape.

I literally finished the wig and the earrings on Monday. I worked on the wig Sunday (Last Sunday), but I ended up finishing it on Monday. I trimmed it and set the style with got-2-be glued hairspray. If I’m being honest, I wish I would’ve styled the wig better. The bangs aren’t that impressive, it’s a little choppy and messy, and it’s definitely not my best work. But, it’s not terrible! It’s not perfect. But it’s definitely not terrible. The wig itself is very nice, I ordered it from Amazon about a week ago. It’s labeled as “Dabi’s Wig” on the listing so I knew that it would arrive mostly styled. It saved me a lot of time. Tbh, the wig would work well for a Sasuke cosplay, maybe even L. The jacket was also purchased off of Amazon, it’s a pretty good jacket, it’s a great quality piece. For the price, I was hopeful that it would be a decent-quality jacket. The fabric is a little stiff, it has an odd plastic smell as well. It’s not terrible but it’s strong. The fabric is obviously made from fake leather. The color is a little off, but it’s not terrible by any means, I love it. But due to the “Off Color,” I had to wear black jeans. It’s not a terrible look. Luckily, I already had everything on hand for this cosplay, I already had a white shirt, boots, and jeans. So it worked out well.

This is my first time using face paint that’s not from a cheap plastic palette bought from Walmart. I was intimidated by this part, I was nervous about painting the scars/burns. I was worried about staining so I had purchased a setting spray to avoid staining and to prevent the paint from transferring to everything around me. Oh, and I also purchased the makeup from Amazon. They were sold separately, unfortunately. The paint wasn’t nearly as streaky as I anticipated. It was buildable which is always a good thing, It’s highly pigmented and glides on like softened butter. I’m definitely going to purchase more paints from that brand. The brand is called “Mehron”, it was a very good product. I highly recommend it. The clean up was easy, it didn’t stain my skin whatsoever. That’s likely due to the setting spray, it’s made by the same brand. And as for the earrings, I already had these small jump-rings on hand so I didn’t need to buy anything for his jewelry. I did however have to buy the little sticker gems for Dabi’s three nose piercings. I used a little bit of super glue to glue the rings together to make the cuffs that Dabi wears on his ears. Oh, and I also added small black “Studs” on my earlobes. It wasn’t necessary but I liked the way they looked with this cosplay.

As per usual these photos were taken at my local park. It’s my favorite place to go for pictures, it’s usually quiet and peaceful. The weather was very nice as well. It was warm, but it wasn’t a terrible experience. I’m dreading doing these photo shoots during the summer-time.🫠

I use an editing app called “Picsart” for all of my editing needs. I also use the app called IbisPaint for a few touch-ups that I can’t do on Picsart. And a huge thank you to my brother and mother who took these shots for me! They’re always a huge help. Due to me not being able to wear lenses, I have to edit my photos to give myself the right eye color according to the character’s eye color. I don’t make any other major changes. I adjust the lighting and shadows and I sometimes crop my photos whenever I deem it necessary. I don’t do any “Serious” edits like resizing anything or making things less visible.
