Making Grell Sutcliff’s shoes!

Hi everyone!

I recently finished making the shoes for my Grell Sutcliff cosplay! Despite it being my first time painting a pair of shoes, it turned out really well, and I’m super excited with how they look! This is a little blog, just to document the steps I went through in creating the boots.

The first thing I did was decide on what style shoe I wanted, and order a pair off eBay. They were so pretty when I got them that I almost felt bad altering them, to be honest. (But I like them so much better now!)

I taped off the shoes with painter’s tape, and sprayed them with Colortool floral spray paint. Because the decorative trim on the shoes was shaped in a jagged way (on the edge of the toe and heel) I couldn’t tape them off, and hand painted them black afterwards with acrylic paint.

Like I said, I’m really happy with the end result, and it’s made me so much more excited to work on this cosplay!

Also the black that extended to the inside. After that I stuffed the shoes with newspaper.

Lastly, I hand painted that trim at the heel and toe black.
