My name is Lindsay and I'm a big fan of knitting and crocheting. I mostly make amigurumis or items from nerdy or geeky shows, games, books, and other pop culture ambiance.
I started knitting when I was in 5th grade. My mom and signed me up for a knitting class, despite my unwillingness to go. As you can see, I stuck with it and my skills only began to grow from there. It started off with poorly knitted scarves and hats, then slowly progressed into my own designs like Espeon (see photo.)
I love crocheting and knitting because it gives me the ability to create something by starting off with a single string of yarn. It can transform into something 2D, 3D, or beyond.
My favorite craft I ever made was the one I'm holding in my picture, Espeon! It's my favorite Pokemon, and it was the first amigurumi I ever made from a pattern. The artist who made the pattern inspired me from there to create my own amigurumis and figures.
My advice to any crafter is, no matter how bad you think you are, or how hard it is to create in your medium, keep practicing! No one is good at their craft on the first try. I having so many disaster projects when I first started making amigurumi befor I made my first "perfect" project. I'm still learning new skills in my 10-year crafting career, and I only get better with each project I stitch.
For now my love of crochet and knit remains a hobby, but I do have an Etsy shop! I also recently started blogging some free patterns I've created. So check those out if you are a nerdy yarn enthusiast like me!
