How do you get the picture to come out so vibrant

Part of it is the colors themselves, part is the way they're layered and highlighted, and part is that I did the base colors in the marker and then used the pencil over top to create more dimension.

Thank you. I had more fun than usual. I'm doing another one right now. I will probably finish it soon. It's got marker, glitter gel pen, gelly roll, and eyeshadow.
