Hi everyone!!
Long time no post! I've had quite a busy January so it feels great to be finally posting again! Today I have a very special post because a little over a week ago, it was Yukine's birthday!! :tada: :tada: I know I'm a little late in posting this, but I wanted to make her something which I hope she'll like! :blush:
I know I know, it's another bottle cap creation! But honestly when I've got my #100BottleCapsChallenge to complete, you can't expect me to not post them :joy: Nevertheless, as Yukine loves Studio Ghibli, I made a little scene with Totoro, Calcifer and a little soot sprite sitting next to each other on a bed of grass :blush:
Despite this being yet another bottle cap creation, one thing that is different is the medium I have used! That's right! Needle felting?! :scream: Don't worry, nobody ran off with my clay, I'm just participating in another challenge on Instagram called the #craftamonth2018 challenge :heart_eyes:
The premise of this challenge is to try out a new medium each month and to share your creations with everyone! For January, I wanted to give needle felting a go :heart_eyes: My mum (Crafty Paws) needle felts and so I had a crack at it myself using her supplies! :joy:
Regardless of turning my fingers into sieves on several occasions (protect your hands from the sharp needles people!), I am really happy with how this creation turned out! It was extremely fun trying out this medium and I loved how different the "sculpting" process was compared to polymer clay. Having to think of new ways to create textures and attaching elements etc., was such a wonderful change up and I am definitely going to keep up with needle felting!
Alas, no matter how much I have tried, I can't ever put into words how much I love this old fossil and how much she means to me. Therefore, I thought I would put this little creation into a package and send it to her instead and hope that it shows even just a smidge of what I feel :joy: :heart:

Wow, usually when I try a different medium for the first time, I pick an easy project. Making minis is difficult for any medium, but you definitely nailed this one. Me and my boys are waiting for our felting supplies and we will be trying felting for the first time too. l am a freak for miniatures so you just gave me another reason to get excited about it! So well done. Yukine will love it!
Oh my goodness thank you so much! :blush: I originally wanted to try something else, but my mum needle felts and had the supplies handy :joy: She makes it look so easy but it took me a few attempts to get it to where I was happy with it. It's so different to what I'm used to but I definitely enjoyed it. I look forward to seeing what you and your boys make! :blush: :heart:

I checked out your mom's blogs and it is easy to see where you got your talent from! My mom still crafts and she is 78 yo. We are so lucky to have crafty mamas. I cannot imagine growing up without such a creative and talented mother. We are both very lucky :heart_eyes:
