After some careful research,

I have reached the conclusion

that, as a rule, people’s life

goals either have to do with

their career or their family.

Either you want to pursue

your dream career and find

a job that makes you happy,

or you want find love and

build a loving family that gets

together for family events.

This is a general pattern, so

if you have other life plans

go ahead and tell me about

them. Overall this is usually

what people want to achieve.

However, I have yet to find

someone whose main goal

for their life is to move to a

specific place. Sure people

may really want to live in a

certain country, but would

change it if it doesn’t suit

their career or family plans.

But for me, that’s not the

case. My top priority isn’t

achieving my dream career

or building a perfect family.

For me, it is getting to live

in a place that’ll suit me best.

And that place is Japan.

Why I want to live in Japan

I don’t like England

Right the only other English

Person I know to be on here

Is [Hani], and idk if she can

Agree with me on this but the

UK sucks. Between our stupid

Political battle with Brexit going

On right now and there being

Nothing interesting to do, I hate

It here, and I am determined to

Leave and go live in Japan.

I take an interest in Japan

The opposite to the previous

Point, I find Japan to be one

Of the most amazing and fun

Places ever. Despite never

Having been before, from the

Stuff people have told me about

It and videos I’ve seen it looks

Like it would be just the perfect

Place for me. From the culture to

The fashion style, it just sounds

Like somewhere from my dreams.

It gives me a chance

to experience an new culture.

You could really say this about

Any country that isn’t your own

As every place has its unique

Culture, but Japan’s in particular

Fascinates me. I’ll be looking in

The culture and history before I

Move so I can get a feel of what

Japan was built on, and I can’t

Wait to be able to explore and

Visit temples and shrines.

Learning a phonetic language.

So even though language aren’t

And never have been my strongest

Points, I really am enjoying learning

Japanese. As it’s a language that

Writes with symbols, there is a

Whole extra step added to learn

And even though it may seem

Tough it’s actually extremely fun

And such a different way to write.

What Inspired Me

Honestly there were a lot of things that

Inspired me to want to move to Japan,

The main one actually being because of

One YouTube channel that I watch:

Mikan is Swedish and she moved

To Japan from London on her own

When she was 19 years old.

She continued her education when

She moved and went to a school

To learn Japanese, and about 9

Months ago she got accepted into

Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo.

Mikan is probably one of the biggest

Inspirations for me as she not only

Comes from England, which is where

I am also from and am currently living,

But she also is still learning Japanese

While in Japan and proves to me that

I will be able to accomplish this goal.

She shows off Japan to be a extremely

Fun place and has so much good advice

On what to do if you want to live there

And stuff you may not realise about Japan

Until you live there long term.

As she moved when she was young and

Did it on her own, she gives me hope

That I too will be able to reach my dream

Of moving to Japan. And who knows,

Maybe I’ll even get to meet her one day.

Learning Japanese

Apps

So currently I am simply

Using Duolingo to learn

Japanese as it is free and

Something I can use for

The time being until I can

Find proper lessons.

School

Sadly my school doesn’t

Offer Japanese as a GCSE,

So as far as learning it in

School goes it isn’t an option.

They do offer Chinese as as

Extra tutoring opportunity,

But that’s about it.

Outside lessons

In the future I may decide

When I’m in six form to get

A tutor outside of school,

But right now that isn’t the

Most affordable option for

Me to choose. I’m good using

Apps for now and teaching

Myself with textbooks.

Other

I couple of my friends are

Either learning Japanese

Or can speak it, so a lot of

Them have offered me help.

One of them has advised me

On a way to get into Japan

Regarding my education, and

That’s what I’ll talk about next.

Education Plan

So my friend told me about this

Scheme that the Japanese

Government have had set up

Called JET, which stands for

Japanese Exchange and Teaching.

What it basically is is an 1 year

Scheme where you go to live

In Japan and train as an English

Teacher. You get paid as you do

It and get to live with other JET

Teachers. After a year you can

Choose to extend the course

Or go off to do your own thing.

What you need at apply to the

Scheme is firstly, a degree with

A class of 2-1 or higher. Then

You go down to London for an

Interview. After that, if you get

Excepted, you can go straight

Into the scheme the year after

you’ve finished University.

Your degree can be in anything at all,

So pick something you love and

Could fall back on if you change

Your mind. You also don’t have

To have any previous experience

In teaching English as a foreign

Language. What is an even bigger

Bonus is that they pay for everything,

And you also get paid. Win Win!!

Oh and they also offer you Japanese

Lessons for the year, for free but at

A very high standard. So you could

Pretty much become fluent from

That one year on JET. 75% of the

People who go on the scheme don’t

Have any experience learning

Japanese but become fluent just

from taking those free lessons.

I didn’t mean for this to become

a promotion, I swear I was not paid

to say all of that. Just being honest.

How It’ll effect other things

Family

Well, as far as my mum is

Concerned, my life is my

Life and I can do whatever I

Want to do to make myself

Happy. She is in full

Of my dreams to move to

Japan as long as she can

Visit me and come to my wedding.

As for my dad, well I haven’t

Told him my plan yet. He isn’t

The type to be happy with me

Staying away for more than

A night let alone moving

Across the globe, so I think

It is best for me to not tell

Him till I’m 18 and an adult.

Relationships

I have decided to not get

Into any serious relationship

Until I have moved to Japan.

Simply as. The reason for this

Is I cannot guarantee someone

Will be willing to move to

Another part of the world with

Me, and of course I couldn’t

Force them to, but I also

Could not promise to stay with

Them if I meant I did not move.

Also I’m much more likely to

Meet someone I’m actually

Happy with when I move.

Now I don’t mean to come

Off as offensive but I simply

Find Asian people more

Attractive than other races.

Don’t @ me it’s just a preference.

My Career

Ultimately at this point where I

Live comes above absolutely

Everything, so I don’t care if I’m

A biologist in Japan or a English

Teacher in Japan or hell, even if

I work in a cafe, as long as it is

In Japan I couldn’t care less.
