Today I celebrated Lily's birthday on October 16th! (This is so late I'm sorry) The beautiful pony turned 22 today, but she certainly doesn't look it haha. She's still in great health and I'm so lucky to celebrate this milestone with her. She was 20 when I bought her in April and she turned 21 October that same year. I didn't make a birthday post for her 21st birthday but you can bet I still celebrated it! Now the lovely girl is 22 and I still can't believe it.

Back in the day when I was first searching for a horse, I was so against getting an older horse and I have no idea why! Many people overlook older horses, but you really shouldn't! Many still have some good years left in them and are amazing teachers. Lily won't reach very high competition levels however, but she's still very capable of lots of rides, low level fun comps, hacking, etc. Don't underestimate the golden oldies! Anyway, back on topic lol.

Lily has been through thick and thin with me. She's helped me so much and allowed me to learn about horses. She's been patient, kind and loving. She's my rock and I have no idea what I would do without her. I don't want any horse but her. She is so lovely and I'm blessed to be able to call her my own. She has given me confidence and been the best teacher I've ever known. She has truly humbled me, yet she teaches me how to fly! On her back there's nothing I can't do. The view through her little chestnut ears is the best view in the entire world. I hope I've given her the life she deserves. I have no idea where's she's been in her life, what she's seen, what she's been through, or how she was treated. I just hope she loves her life and enjoys spending time with me.

People say she's "just a horse" an old paddock ornament. Boring. Useless. To me she's anything but that. She's talented, smart, incredible, keen, trusting and other much more. She's my best friend and my everything. I cherish the moments we spend together. Even when we have bad days, even when we fight and argue, at the end of the day I still love her with my whole heart and nothing will change that. From the moment the little white trailer came to my property, I knew I would give everything to you. I'd try my hardest to be the best rider and owner I could possibly be. I want you to love your life, to have the spark in your dark brown eyes. To have fun and be the pony you really are. There's so much more I can learn from you, I will never take any moment for granted. I hope we will have plenty more years together and that you will be happy and healthy.

So I made this is the cake for her haha. It's just fruit in a plate and I can't be bothered to get the photo because it's on my camera so lol. It's got carrots, mandarins, and kiwi fruit in it. Unfortunately I didn't have any apples so I had to use what we had.

I brought it down to the pony who was in the paddock with the most grass because it's her special day hehe. Lily was curious and took a few good bites, but after awhile she just wanted to eat the carrots :joy: .  She's not a horse that is a fan of trying new fruits lol, but she gave it a shot xD. I then just gave her a bunch of pats and stayed for a little while in the paddock while she just grazed.

It's not much, but it's her ideal day for sure lmao. Lots of grass and no work, plus some fruits. Just a chill day :ok_hand: . She's such a lovely pony and I can't begin to tell you how much she's changed my life :heart: .

So this is basically it! I hope you enjoyed this little birthday post. I also want to thank the many people here on EA who always comment sweet things and make me smile. You all are so amazing and I can't thank you enough. I love sharing my journey on here with Lily and there will hopefully be many more posts to come!
