The iconic raccoon was one of my first designs for my region and was originally going to have a opossum first route counterpart but the opossum was later designed to be ice type and was made with only one stage so it was moved to later in the region as a big tank/polar bear size opossum. Leaving the little thieving rodent as the only rodent early route pokemon.
