the thing about linguine

it's just plain old pasta, or at least it is in my experience (for all I know I could be completely wrong, or it could just be a dialect thing).

in fact, unless you put the name of another food in front of it, it's not even really considered to be a proper meal.

(for example my uncle makes some bomb ass clam linguine, and my go to at this restaurant near my house used to be salmon linguine before they took it off the menu)

technically the textbook definition of linguine refers to a specific shape/type of pasta (like penne, farefelle, vermicelli, etc)

ok so I didn't make this post to be a grammar nazi (like I said, I could be mistaken or biased, feel free to call me out in the comments). the reason I made this post is because of two things:

       1. in a lot of fics all references to linguine portray it as being fancy (or at least a proper meal), which is lowkey really funny if you don't see it as such.

       2. in the OBC the line implies that Marvin is the one doing the cooking. this means that he is trying to make himself sound more put together by using the pasta's specific shape name when talking about making his family plain pasta by itself, and I think that's amazing.

that probably didn't make any sense, buuuuut I've spent way more time that I should have trying to figure out how to explain this.
