The 90s & 00s are back and more popular than ever.
As a kid who was born in 97 and grew up in the 00s I a lot of the fashions. But now that I am an adult I can finally dress the way I wanted to as a kid, hopefully this time with a little more fashion sense though.
I have always been nostalgic for the early 2000s however, recently I have been on a 90s kick since finishing Buffy The Vampire Slayer for the first time.

As a show that started in 1997 and ending in 2003 the fashion spans the mid-to-late 90s into the early 2000s. Though the early seasons from 97-99 host some of my all time favorite outfits from the show.
As a Cosplayer, Costumer and fashion history nerd I love doing deep dives into clothing from the "Days of Ole" as my friends and I like to call it. So here are a few outfits that let you see just how Iconic this show's fashion is.
Starting off we have these looks from the OG buffy crew

Starting from left to right we Have Willow, Xander, Buffy, Giles, and Cordelia.
I love everything here. However, For this photo we will focus on Willow and Cordelia.
Willow: Her style reflects her quirky personality and Nerd status. This outfit, while not one of her more well known ones, is definitely a good visual for understanding how she dresses through the high-school years.
At fist glance it doesn't seem to really work, the large sweater over a silk/satin skirt just looks. . Off.
However the sweater and skirt pull a lot of the same colors from eachother and taking her personality into consideration It really flows seamlessly.
Now onto Queen Bee Cordy
Cordelia Is the posh and popular girl you see in shows and movies. Her family has money and she can afford the latest fashions. She also tends to wear a lot of neutral colors, a stark contrast to Willow's bold and colorful style.
Her outfit here Is simple and sleek. Sporting a tight animal print skirt, light green short sleeved turtle neck and most likely wedges or thick heeled shoes (as we can not see them completely from this photo)
Her tight clothing and short shoes accentuate her features and highlight her height as compaired to the rest of the cast. Looking at her in this outfit your eyes get drawn to her.
The shade of green that the top is works well with the yellows and browns of her skirt. Adding a small pop oc color to her wardrobe without it being too much.
Cordelia is a strong character, but she isn't flashy, and this is definitely conveyed through this outfit.
And although she is a ing character in the series, her fashion and attitude make her unforgettable in any scene she is in.
Up next we got Xander!

From left to right- Willow, Xander, and Buffy.
Xander oh Xander. . . He is definitely very interesting. Especially when it comes to his style choices. But aside from the sweaters he tends to wear a lot of, he loves his crazy printed Button ups. And this one is definitely one of the most Iconic and my all-time favorite.
This shirt is one of the more popular and ed shirts of Xander's. And I think shows us a nice middle ground within his personality.
He is the "Funny Guy" in the show. Think Sokka from ATLA. But he hides a lot of his deeper emotions behind that wall of funny, and this shirt shows that. Just looking at it I get this feeling of "oh that's a funky shirt. It's got ships on it.". But looking a little deeper (As I do) I get a sadder and walled up feeling. Like something is being held back.
The blue color being both is pants and shirt is a contrast from Buffy and Willow who have more colors throughout. While I don't what is happening in this particular scene, his outfit along gives me a more Melancholy feeling.
However all that deep stuff aside, He honestly looks super hot in this :eyes: :joy: and I want the shirt for myself.
Maybe don't read into that
Also, I am unsure of the material, but I think it is some kind of Silk.
Lastly for today we have the Chosen one herself Buffy!

Picking an outfit for Buffy was hard. There are very few that I just flat out do not like. But I landed on this one since it is the one from the first episode S1E1 "Welcome to the Hellmouth"
Since the show is a continuation of the 1992 movie Buffy at this point has already become the Slayer but is still holding on to her Roots as a cheerleader and high school girl.
This outfit is girly and definitely fashion forward for the times. Even allowing her to catch the eye of queen bee Cordelia.
This outfit has an almost innocent quality to it. Especially with her perfectly styled hair, complete with Barrette that serves no purpose other than to look pretty, she is by anyone's standards just your typical teen girl. The clothing choices here show her need and want to be "normal" and how much she doesn't want her new slayerness to affect her real life.
This is a statement outfit if I have ever soon one. It is her first day at a brand new school, and she is obviously there to make an impression. And she does, catching the eye of Xander as well as cordelia. I would say this outfit is a total show stopper and would be a knock out even today.
Well, that is all for now. I hope you guys enjoyed my ramblings, and the grammatical errors didn't throw you off too badly.
