What Is Your Favorite Genre? Part One!

Wondering what everyone on here's favorite genre was and importantly...Why?!

I'd really appreciate a good explanation as to why it is your favorite, favorite movie from that genre, compare and contrast different eras of that genre, sub-genres, whatever you'd like!

Personally, most of my favorite movies have been historical period dramas. History has always been my favorite subject, so a good story in history or a fictional one during a period has always sparked my interest. I find it very neat how you can make a film on almost everything in the past, and how realistic you can make it.

However, I am also a fan of psychological thrillers and horror. While I may enjoy older and new thrillers, horror has taken a horrible turn in my opinion in the last couple of years.
