-I really got interested about this topic during my last post and wanted to do a second blog about the meanings of some weapon names in Fire Emblem Heroes-

Let's start with Ishtars weapon, Mjölnir (Mjǫllnir in old language). Mjölnir is the hammer of the Norse thundergod Thor. It's one of the most powerful weapons in the whole mythology. Some of you may have heard about the story of Thor creating thunder with hitting the clouds with his hammer. Along with it Mjölnir was also used to killing the objectors of the gods. I think that Mjölnir suits very well to Ishtar since she is the thunder goddess.

Tome Eirikas weapon Gleipnir was a chain used to tie up a wolf named Fenrir. Gleipnir was the third chain used for this task, since the two first chains weren't strong enough to hold him back. Gleipnir was made by the sons of Ivaldi and it was made from six 'impossible' things (for example breath of fishes and roots of mountains). It's really nice to have some weapons like Mjölnir and Gleipnir which meaning actually is a weapon/an item.

Seliphs Tyrfing is a magic sword in Norse mythology. It was made by two dwarves trapped by king Svafrlami. Tyrfing was told to never miss a stroke, it would never rust and it would cut through stone and iron as easily as through clothes. In the mythology the sword is told to have a golden hilt just like Seliphs sword. However the dwarves cursed the sword to always kill it's .
Well I think the curse is really accurate since at least Seliph dies every single time he tries to use his sword...

Audhumla (originally Auðumbla) is a primeval cow of Norse mythology. The cow stayed alive by licking the ice of Niflheim and by doing it the cow turned into a god named Búri. Búri was the first god and he got a son Bor, who got three sons. All the other gods stem from these gods. The story is kind of weird and at least I don't understund why has Joshua been given a primeval cow as his weapon?

Flier Olivias weapon Skuld is a name of one Norn. In Norse mythology Norns are female beings who rule the destiny of all gods and men. Together with two other Norns Skuld makes up a trio of Norns that are described as deciding the fates of people. Again a person is not the best choice to be a weapon, but at least Skuld is a powerful femlale with a lot of might. Still I wouldn't have chosen the girlish, youthful Olivia to be the one who 'carries' Skuld.

Fallen Takumi's bow is actually a goddess btw. Skađi rules over bow hunting, skiing, the mountains, and winter in general :3
Oh yeah that's true!
Please keep doing these, they’re really interesting :raised_hands:
