Melania was born into… quite the situation. A child of a human mother and a psychopathic dream demon father? It’s no wonder she’s just a little paranoid and anxious.

Melania grew up an orphan, with no clue about her parentage until her fateful tenth birthday. It was the day she received a gift from her late mother… and a nighttime visit from her father. Bill did his best to convince her to him in his dastardly plans, but she ultimately denied the offer. From that point, she was a runaway, drifting, surviving as best as a child could.

”Oh, you mean Bill? Ugh, don’t even get me started on that guy...”

Appearance: cerulean eyes, fair complexion, shoulder-length orange-brown hair. Usually wearing plain, yet comfortable and vaguely fashionable clothing, yellow triangle-shaped earrings, and a necklace with a charm that bears an odd resemblance to a certain yellow triangle…

Five years went by, and Melania had learned a lot— about the world, about herself… but so little about her adversary. That was, of course, until fate brought her to the little town of Gravity Falls…

Her first stop was, naturally, the odd little tourist trap she saw signs for everywhere. Just as fate would have it, she arrived at the perfect time: the Pines twins had just arrived for another summer at the shack. She clicked with them immediately, and found she had plenty in common with both of them. They had become her first real friends in far too long.

However, something about this town amplified Bill’s influence on her mind. She couldn’t sleep without hearing his voice, and even in the waking hours there were still whispers. She couldn’t take it anymore. And so… she relented. She sought out that statue and shook its hand…

But this wasn’t right. None of this was right. Perhaps it was the adrenaline, or the lingering effects of years of survival, or even the influence those twins had impressed upon her… but she defied her father. She stood up to Bill, and in a fit of anger, she tore off her necklace and tossed it at him. The moment the necklace made , however… he was gone. The necklace fell to the grass, quivering with raw energy.

Melania had stowed Bill away, as well as earned back the trust of her new friends. And from there, the rest was history.

”I… don’t have to listen to you. I don’t… have… to listen to you!”

With nowhere else to go, the Pines family was kind enough to offer Melania a place in the attic. She now spends most of her time either reading, hanging out with the twins, or helping out around the gift shop. In the meantime, she’s also become great friends with the shack’s newest teenaged employee, AJ. That, however, is a story of its own…

”The real question is… why WOULDN’T you want to go there? C’mon… mystery hunt!”

Close relationships

•Dipper: though initially a little wary around her (and especially so after the Bill fiasco), Dipper came to realize that he and Melania had a great deal in common. Their love of the unknown, codes, and questing for knowledge helped them form an unlikely pair.

•Mabel: she was the first to find Melania after she came across the shack, and from that moment on she was intent on making her feel right at home. Though vastly different from Melania personality-wise, Mabel deeply cares for her, and it’s a very mutual feeling.

•AJ: if Melania clicked fast with the twins, her connection with AJ was by the speed of light. It wasn’t long before the two became inseparable. Not to mention, AJ has a strong iration for Melania, in a way she doesn’t realize just yet…

”We’re all a little weird here. Guess that’s why I fit in.”
