It is an American British Canadian supernatural psychological horror movie directed by Alan Parker and is an adaptation of the novel Falling Angel.
Plot:
A private investigator is hired to solve the disappearance of a man known as Johnny Favorite.
This is an interesting type of movie that I watched and is pretty dark. The story itself is a mystery with Harry looking for a missing guy named Johnny and come across strange stuff. It's built up pretty well with him going to current places that he suspects Johnny is at and discovering some clues on what is going on. There's also a series of murders that happened to people that he met with and their connection with Johnny. I do like the whole mystery plotline on what is going on with these murders and what this has done with Johnny. There's also some voodoo aspects in the movie, which is a great inclusion to the movie. The psychological horror isn't there that much until much later on in the movie. As for the reveal of the movie, it's not anything too big that I have seen, but it is an interesting reveal on who Johnny really is.
The movie mostly focuses on one character in the entire movie, but there are some who somewhat appear in it.
Harry Angel is a private investigator who is looking for the missing guy. He does have a good development to him with him discovering some strange clues and how he interacts with people throughout. Mickey Rourke does a great job with his performance in the movie.
As for the other characters, Louis Cyphre is the guy who hired him to look for the man, and Robert De Niro does a great job in the role. There's also Epiphany, who is a teenage girl whom Harry took interest to in a weird way.
Angel Heart is an interesting type of movie that I watched and recommended checking out.
