So, I watched the new "Fear Street" movie "Fear Street: Prom Queen" which is based off of the novel of the same title in the "Fear Street" series. First off, I do have to say, this one was not as serious as the first trilogy. It was very campy and violent but also very funny and the killer reveal and motives had me and my sister rolling, laughing so hard! If you do go into it expecting an intellectual and serious movie, set those expectations aside and you will enjoy it much more!

The plot is simple. There are a few Prom Queens up for candidates for the 1988 Shadyside Prom Night. Someone is knocking them off one by one (along with many other fellow students and faculty). We are introduced to a group of candidates and they are all in a clique run by the intimidating and popular, Tiffany. We are also introduced to an underdog candidate named Lisa Granger, who (like many in Shadyside, harbors a dark past where her father was killed and her mother was suspected but never proven to be guilty, but many townsfolk still believe her to have gotten away with cold blooded murder).

Obviously there is lots of teen bullying and drama, especially between the Prom Queen candidates who are being picked off one by one. While everyone else is having the night of thier life at Prom, nobody is noticing these people disappear aside from that one girl who everyone said is paranoid because she's a stoner.

Aside from the many 80's horror eater eggs planted (such as a poster for the 1979 Lucio Fulci movie "Zombie" in Lisa's bedroom, one of the characters talking about having a copy of "The Lost Boys" on VHS, "Phantasm II" playing in the movie theater, Fangoria magazine and more) the other greatest part was the killer reveals.

First it's Tiffany's dad cuz he wants her to win Prom Queen. Then we find out her mother is in on it too, then we find out Tiffany is as well!🤣 :joy: :skull: Oh, also a dance off between Lisa and Tiffany in which Tiffany got her ass handed to her in front of the entire Prom.

Lisa kicks ass in classic Final Girl fashion and that's about the jist of the movie. It was very fun with the 80's theme (which doesn't seem to be getting old despite it being very "in" right now). Now streaming on Netflix along with the first "Fear Street" trilogy.

That's all for now, folks! Stay Spooky! :ghost:

#PromQueen.
