Why hello beautiful people!

I'm not sure if anyone re me but、 I'm Facts Gal! I'm a retired leader on Japan Amino. You may see my old Japan Facts blogs popping every now and then. I stepped down from my position in August 2017、 so it's been over a year. I stepped down because I was entering college and I felt like I couldn't dedicate as much time to this as I wanted to.

I'm currently a sophomore in college and I wanted to give you guys an update(including some exciting news) about me life.

Japanese Language

During this semester、 I finally took Japanese Beginning 1. I loved my professor and my classmates were really funny and made the class fun. My professor is from Japan and knows many languages(Japanese、 English、 Spanish、 and French). She's super nice and always helped us out. My professor was more focused on writing/reading than speaking but I'm taking the next level next semester which will focus more on speaking.

I like hiragana. I like the way its written. Kanji、 even though its tough、 it's pretty cool. Katakana...I don't like. I have trouble ing it since the sounds are the same as hiragana. I'll get used to it though.

My major is International studies so I'm required to take a language. I plan to take 4 semester of Japanese.

I'm going to Japan!

This news is super recent、 so let me explain. Back in October/November、 I applied and interviewed for the TOMODACHI Kakehashi Inouye Scholars Program

The TOMODACHI Kakehashi Inouye Scholars Program:

1. Promote deeper mutual understanding among the people of Japan and the United States

2. Enable future leaders of U.S.-Japan exchanges to form networks, and

3. Help young people develop wider perspectives to encourage active roles at the global level in the future.

This trip will happen during Spring break and is all expense paid for. The only money I have to bring is money for my own spending. This was a highly competitive program to get into. Only 23 students are selected and 88 students applied.

In exchange of us students going、 we will be helping Japanese university students who will be visiting in February.

This program happens around every 2-3 years. So if any of you are in college in America、 keep an eye out for this program! It may be going through your university while you're in college. The program prioritizes students who are 1) undergraduates 2) have never been to Japan 3)are studying Japanese language/culture. I personally have never been on the United States、 so its am honor to have Japan be the first one on my port!
