It's Shi and thank you for returning to visit

our Café. I hope everyone is doing well &

staying           safe             out             there.

This month, our team of baristas have set

out   to   fulfill   an   order    placed   by the

lovely Rei. She ordered a   latte   topped

with recs of dramas most people wouldn't

watch.

So, grab a pastry & coffee and settle in as

we       set       to      making     the      drink.

This movie is a story about York, an

amoral disillusioned and cruel   young

man kept in luxury by his foster mother.

The synopsis doesn't give the movie its

justice, I believe the   movie   is   more

complicated than   what   its   synopsis

describes,   the   movie    follows    York

( Leslie Cheung )   during   his   playboy

phase and how this York is so bad that

he   can   absolutely   manipulate    girls

,make them fall in love with him and

just as he gets them he breaks their

heart, the movie is a take on the path

of finding our true and real love, and

we see this adventure of running after

love with Maggie Cheung   who's one

of the   girls    York   manipulated,   the

movie         marks        an        incredible

performance   from   each    actor   and

actress and also it's a movie directed

by   Wong    Kar-wai   so   you   can   be

assured     that      it     has      such      a

mind-blowing                  aestheticness.

Quick Summary:

Four friends decide to take one last

trip for old time's sake on the eve of

one's enlistment. As they spend the

night drinking & looking to the future,

those futures come to   a halt   when

they come   across   a   woman   being

attacked. As the four of them   soon

learn, no good deed goes unpunished.

Okay,    I   get   why   this   movie   falls

through the cracks for a lot of people.

This movie got a bit of promotion that

led you to think it would be a happy

film about   four   friends   excited   to

head off into their adult lives. Yeah.

That is NOT this movie. Also, with the

recent news of J* S**, a lot of people

avoid it.

First, with the actor issue, I wish most

would this isn't just him.

There    are   three   more   leads   and

countless ing ones   &   staff

who worked hard for this movie.   I

don't want their work to be thrown

aside because of one person. So I

ask you try to look past him, but I do

understand    if    you're    unable    to.

But if you're worried about the story,

I know this movie is not a happy one.

A lot of the reviews for OWT mention

that it's not a fair ending and that it's

not realistic that such a strong group

of friends would do what they do in

the movie. But I think, sadly, all of

the       characters'       actions      are

unrealistic. Much of what they   do

actually happen a lot. There's a lot

that   happens   in   the   movie    that

makes you question yourself. How

far would you go to protect yourself?

Would you really be able to do the

right thing when your future is on

the line? Fear's a strong motivator. I

know it may not be everyone's taste,

but I hope some   will   check   this

movie out.

This one is an HK movie directed by The

living legend Wong Kar-wai, the story is

very simple it talks about a guy who lives

somewhere in the hot dessert and gives

services to whoever can pay him, I think

this description won't give justice to this

Masterpiece of a film, the acting is GOD

TIER one of the best performances I've

ever   witnessed   with   my 4 eyes, The

characters are so interesting and each

of   them   have a story and a personal

path, the movie has Tony Leung, Leslie

Cheung, Brigitte Lin etc and those are

like   top   tier   actors/actresses,   it's   a

movie that will make you attached to

your seat till it ends because of how

charismatic and interesting the acting

and plot were. Ashes of time is one of

the best HK movies I've watched till this

very moment and I strongly recommend

it            to           all            of             you.

Quick Summary:

Hirasawa Momoko is a sweet girl who

works as a waitress/barista in the café

of a fancy hotel. It becomes a habit of

hers to go to the roof and it is on her

nightly trip that she meets the hotel's

"Phantom", Hase Kei. She's   shocked

when    he   suddenly   kisses   her   and

disappears,     just     like    a    Phantom.

I talked to a member here a couple of

months ago and I was surprised when

she asked how I could watch so many

Jdramas. After I talked with them,   I

understood why she asked. For a lot of

people, JDramas are too over the top.

A lot of them, especially those based

off manga stories, can come across as

cheesy, the FLs are trying too hard to

be cute, and the stories are kind of

predictable.

So I wanted to share this drama that

should fit all this criteria but didn't.

LIP is based off a manga but it never

feels    too    over   the   top.   I'd   been

expecting the male lead to be cold as

a lot are. But while he tries to be at

first, he's quick to see Momo could

help him be happy and decides to be

with her. Momo's never too annoying,

even able to stand on her own when

she needs to. The story may be a bit

on the predictable side, it never goes

crazy. So I recommend this drama for

anyone who wants to see a Jdrama

that's a bit more calm. (Plus, the Kiss

scenes are pretty good. Renn never

lets us down   in   that   department.)

I'd absolutely recommend   everyone to

watch Backstreet Rookie, it was one of

the best dramas I watched in 2020 and

its in my top 10 of my fav dramas ever , I

strongly think that the hate it got was so

unjustified, now you may ask why would

you give a chance to Backstreet Rookie?

Well , the drama has the best romance

you   can   ever   watch ,   the   chemistry

between the leads is natural to a point

that they made me believe   that   they

were dating irl , the characters are also

so likeable ( yes even the webtoon artist,

his role was a stereotype and served a

comedic purpose and also a purpose to

help    the    ML    grow ),    pretty    much

everything about the drama is likeable,

the   romance,   the   comedy    and    the

performance of the actors and actresses,

without   mentioning the   aesthetic   and

artistic path they took in some shots. For

me Backstreet Rookie was a 10/10 and I

strongly recommend   yall   to watch   it.

Mae Ri is shocked when her future self

appears before her one day. Older Mae

Ri tells her she's there to stop Mae Ri

from repeating her mistake of falling for

the wrong man. Mae Ri   struggles   to

figure out which man is the right one for

her: her hot & cold news   announcer

boss Kim Shin or a kind intern Park Se

Joo,   who   has   a   secret   of   his own.

I was a bit wary myself to watch MHIYD

when I first came across it. I heard that

a lot of people were disappointed with

the ending. Well, I decided I would give

it a try and binged the drama in just 2

days. And I'd be lying if I said   I   was

happy as I finished. Not gonna spoil, but

I'm not sure I'd call it a happy, sad or

open ending to this day. I guess I'll have

to flip a coin.

Anyway, I used to think I would never

rec it but here we are. After having time

to think back on it, I realise that   the

choice makes sense in the end because

Mi   Rae   made   the best   choice     for

her   future   and   I   liked   watching her

growth over time. (I also think the drama

had a proper end if you paid attention.

Ask in the comments for a spoil if you

want.)   It's   not   the   ending   you   are

expecting but it makes sense. As the

story   is   played   out,   you'll   even be

surprised by a lot of the characters in

good              and           bad            ways.

~ 🧋

That's the end , hope our service

met the customers expectations as

here we only make the best of best,

me and shi enjoyed making this, it

was pretty fun and hope you guys

will enjoy what   we've   done   too.

Until    next    command    wish   yall

safety .🖤
