  ☰ │hey folks, welcome to another segment of

         #1LLUMIN8's artist spotlight. in todays blog, i will

          be introducing the talented artist Churry Curry.

          i've had the honor of interviewing him and he

          truly is a sweet and openhearted guy! he's very

          optimistic, and his philanthropist ideology shows

          clearly through his musical artistry.

          his songs really speak towards the difficulties of

          daily life and the ability to overcome those

          through positivity and sensitivity of the better

          things (like the strive for freedom, peace, and

          good vibes of the contemporary world).

         i really hope yall will give him the time and

         he deserves,, bc by doing his best to

          make and release his music, we should try to do

          our part by listening and acknowledging :pray: :two_hearts:

O1 :: please introduce yourself

         What’s up! I’m CHURRY CURRY (처리커리). I rap

          for love and peace.

O2 :: the origin behind your name?

         Technically, “Churry” is my nickname and Indian

          cuisine “Curry” is my favorite food. How funny I

          just put these together and use it as a stage

          name. They are rhymes as well. BTW, I love

          Indian food more than Korean haha.

O3 :: if you could describe yourself or your music in 5 words, what would they be?

         Love never dies my friends!

O4 :: where does your inspiration for music come from?

         I used to work in a restaurant called The Halal

          Guys. Mahin was my manager originally from

          Bangladesh. Even though he worked all day long

          and got injured sometimes, he never complained

          about his life and he kept doing his work with

          positive energy. He was a graduate student and

          in order to pay his school tuition he worked

          harder than anyone else did. One day I saw a

          slogan in his SNS profile. His slogan was “LOVE

          NEVER DIES”. This slogan blowed my mind away

          and I started to revive his spirit of humanism in

          my music and even real life. No matter what let

          you down, do not forget that there somebody

          loves you and you were born to be loved for sure.

          LOVE NEVER DIES !

O5 :: what does music mean to you? do you want to express yourself through music or convey a send a message?

         I listened to hiphop music when I went to high

          school. It really helped me a lot. Before that I was

          a shy guy who did not even have confidence, but

          after listening to hiphop music I felt like my heart

          was beating and it helped me build self-esteem.

          This is because I really want to return what I got

          from music to my fans and listeners. I would say,

          “You can do it and you are the best!”

O6 :: how long have you been pursuing music? how do you think it has changed from when you first started?

         I have been doing music for 1 year. I decided to

          rap after my military service. Me and my friend

          were a rap duo and released a mixtape. Frankly

          speaking, even if it’s been only a year, many

          things have changed. I used to love trap music.

O7 :: you just released your debut album Loveism. can you tell us about its meaning/message and how you felt when it was released?

         Loveism is my first debut album and also a

          movement to encourage people who struggle

          everyday and have no confidence. Each track has

          a positive energy and awakens you from old

          conditions. (I wish I could translate the lyrics in

          English for you guys!) What I tried to do is to

          inspire dream and hope into the people with

          difficulty. I feel bad about people losing their pure

          heart and humanity in this modern society. I

          know that people are busy doing work and

          become more egocentric, but we gotta care for

          others and what others do. After

          releasing it, I felt so comfortable and calm just as

          I just pooped.

O8 :: do you ever plan on creating a music video to accompany one of your songs?

         I have a plan on making a music video of the title

          song called “사랑은 죽지 않아” (LOVE NEVER DIES

          in English)

O9 :: you've collaborated with a few artists. how did it feel to work with them? any experiences you want to share?

         I really like the personality of Jaedal and Errday.

          They are both cool and mature. Jaedal was tall

          like a model. Errday was a friendly and

          easy-going man.

1O :: what's your favorite part about this line of work? least favorite? why?

         The favorite part is to write lyrics and make a

          song about it. I have so many things to say out

          and I love to express my feelings though music.

          For the least favorite, none.

11 :: what are some challenges you experiences as an artist?

         As an artist, I have worries about what kind of

          music people would like and how to promote

          myself to people. I guess these issues apply to

          every musician in the world. I also feel bad about

          underground hiphop in Korea since the scene is

          being reduced every year. I hope that people get

          more interested in underground artists in Korea

          and I want to say thank you to Kpop Amino.

12 :: what type of artist do you consider yourself as? do you consider yourself an underground artist? if so, how difficult is it for you and other underground artist to get known?

         I do not want to belong in “the hiphop category”. I

          do whichever genre I want but keep hiphop spirits

          in my lyrics. Yes, I’m an underground artist in

          Korea and even if I get famous and become

          popular I will stay underground and flourish

          underground hiphop culture.

13 :: any advice to those who want to pursue music?

         DO NOT THINK AND JUST MOVE.

14 :: what new music do you like?

         BTS

15 :: what do you like to do on your free time? any hobbies besides making music?

         I DO ONLY MUSIC

16 :: how does it feel to have fans on the other side of the world?

         Jolly good:) I would love to meet my new fans

          around the world! My door is always open.

17 :: from any of your songs, which one would you recommend to new fans? why?

         I would recommend “내가 아홉살이라면”. This

          song would remind your childhood and you

          would go back.

18 :: do you have any plans in the near future? is there anything new fans can look forward to?

         I have a small concert on May 25th 6PM at

          mHood, Hongdae.
