안녕하세요!

it’s SEVENTEEN’s 10th anniversary! after a successful decade, SVT has made a massive impact on not only the K-Pop scene, but beyond as well. from getting number 1 on the charts to selling out world tours, they’ve proved to be a force to reckon with in the music industry worldwide. i’m so glad that i can celebrate their 10th anniversary with these amazing 13 men.

i first got into SVT when i stumbled across the “Mansae” MV in 2015. this was the year i discovered K-Pop, so everything was new and refreshing for me. SEVENTEEN was always a group i paid attention to along with several others. i always looked forward to their releases and new stuff they’d release. they were always a group that i could turn to laugh with. now we’ve finally reached their 10th anniversary and i’m so proud of them and everything they’ve achieved. they quickly became people who attached themselves to my heart and became an ult group roughly 3 years ago, and one that i cherish with all my heart.

Some Personal Favorites: Songs

SVT has a remarkable discography. As the years progressed for SVT, they have experimented with different sounds and created one with their signature “SVT” sound. While it’s hard to pick favorites out of their marvelous discography, these are some of my personal favorites:

Crush

this is my #1 b-side from SVT. this song has a really special place in my heart because it’s one i fell in love with after seeing it live! i still liked the song before this, but when they performed it on their 2022 Be The Sun Tour, it became an immediate favorite! i love the vocals, the melody, the choreography, everything about it! i was so happy when they put it back on the 2024 tour setlist! i think it’s just a fun and easy song to listen to. it always raises my spirits whenever i listen to it, so i think it’s fair to say this song means a lot to me.

Home

Home is another song by SVT i deeply cherish. shifting the mood completely from Crush, Home does a fantastic job with comforting the listener. i always listen to this when i feel hopeless at certain periods of my life. it helps to encourage me that no matter what happens to me in the future, i can always come back to my home, SVT. this song feels like a warm hug with the mellow instrumental contrasting with SVT’s powerful vocals pulling your heart into their warm embrace.

Ash

i was debating between this song and Don Quixote, but decided to go with Ash! both are off Face The Sun album (one of my favorite SVT albums of all time) and both are certified bangers. i chose Ash because I always thought this was a fan favorite off the album and was surprised that they hadn’t performed it ever until they added it to the SEVENTEEN RIGHT HERE World Tour setlist and made choreography for it. every CARAT, including myself, loves this song and it finally got the love it deserved after being ignored for 2 years! i think this song is especially charming because of Vernon’s rap part, they always make me giddy as well as the outro. i think this is a song that showcases an example of SVT’s versatility in the K-Pop industry. this song has full on autotune, but it works well with this style of song.

MANSAE / 만세

one of my favorite SVT title tracks ever! this was my first song i discovered from SVT in 2015. my first comeback with them was with VERY NICE in 2016, and i was considering writing it for this portion, but i wanted to give my love to MANSAE! i think it’s a song that showcases SVT’s versatility extremely well, especially since they were just starting out and experimenting with their sound. i love bright concepts, and SVT brought their new and fresh take to the table when it was released. i think it’s one of the most beloved title tracks for SVT for that reason.

Ready to Love

RTL, my favorite SVT title track! words cannot describe how much i adore and love this song with my whole heart. it’s arguably one of the best songs in SVT’s entire discography and i’m saying this as genuinely as possible. everything about this song just gives me a nostalgia of some unrequited love and makes me want to sing and run through the pouring rain. i think the best part of the song is Seungkwan’s adlibs at the very last chorus. i think it adds the cherry on top to an already perfect song in SVT’s discography. the choreography is also very interesting, especially the ending with the alternating like they’re running through a maze.

Kidult / 어린아이

lastly, one of the most emotional fan songs on here, Kidult. this song means so much to me and comforts me when i feel like i’m at my lowest. as a student in university, i sometimes feel like giving up and quitting because of how difficult it seems in the moment. however, Kidult helps me let out my emotions and tells me that everything will be okay. i can never listen to it without crying, but it’s my #1 comfort song by SVT because of how much it gives me hope.

Some Personal Favorites: Albums

SVT has such an abundant and colorful discography and their albums always hold up to that title. It’s difficult to choose, but here are some of my favorite SVT albums:

Your Choice (2021)

this is one of my favorite albums of all time. this was released with the title track Ready to Love and it was my first comeback, so i used to listen to this album religiously. i was amazed at how cohesive the musicality and the concept was. it was a beautiful experience for me to take the time and go through this album. it made me want to pay more attention to SVT’s overall discography and has some of my favorite songs on it. this is a very special album and i’ll always hold it close to my heart.

Face The Sun (2022)

arguably one of SVT’s best albums in their discography, once again the cohesiveness of the concept and the musicality blew me away. i loved how the composition of the album went and how every song had its own color in tones. i was also really happy given how SVT always put unit songs in their albums. i think it’s a great way to showcase multiple while glorifying the whole group with the other songs, and these are definitely by far some of my favorites by each unit. the depth of this album is one i’ll never truly understand but will always be amazed by.

Al1

another album that i love but isn’t appreciated enough, in my opinion. one of SVT’s earlier albums, released only two years into their career. it was one of the first ever albums I decided to listen to from SVT, mainly because it has Don’t Wanna Cry on it, which was my favorite title track at the time. being one of their earliest forms, i think it’s so cool that we can see SVT’s evolution from this album to the next in the future. this album was definitely a turning point in their music, but it felt like a new direction towards success.

Heng:garae (2020)

one of two albums made during the first year in the pandemic, Heng:garae provides a sense of joy and happiness during this dark time. the pandemic was a lot for everyone in humanity to take in, but SVT really helped with this album by giving us joyous and comforting songs to help us get through the isolation. i hearing this album during the pandemic as a CARAT, and i was immediately touched by how SVT decided to make music for all CARATs to feel comforted by. this album is definitely one of the best gifts to CARATs and one that is always near and dear to my heart, especially when the going was tough.

i appreciate everything you do as leader to the group. you’re the representative of SVT, and it wouldn’t be SVT without you. beneath your leader exterior is a very soft-hearted person who sulks easily haha! even so, we CARATs love you and all that you do for SVT! if there’s one thing i always want you to keep in mind, you’re so loved forever and always. i know you’ve had it hard these past couple of years, but we know you’re trying your best and we love and appreciate all of what you give us. i also want to mention, i love hearing your rapping! that level of skill is amazing and it’s some of my favorite parts in SVT songs! it’s not easy to lead a team successfully for 10 whole years, but you did it. happy 10 years!

our angel! i know you’re working hard and serving in the military right now. we all miss you so much, and even though we can’t physically see you for a while, i’m still glad we’re able to celebrate the 10th anniversary together. i love hearing your voice in SVT songs because of the softness it brings to the ambiance. you have such a versatile voice and I truly miss hearing it. i’ll be waiting for the day when we’re able to meet again as OT13. happy 10 years!

you were my first ever bias in SEVENTEEN. i fell in love with your voice once i heard it and that’s something i still stand by today. you add something special to this amazing team of talent, and even now I love hearing your beautiful rendition of Sunday Morning by Maroon 5. although you’ve had a difficult past year, you’re doing well. it can be hard to compose yourself, especially since you’re a public figure, but you truly show me what strength is. although you’re strong, please know it’s okay to falter. you are an amazing person, and don’t ever forget that. happy 10 years!

i love your voice! your parts are some of my favorites in SVT songs because of how your voice complements the songs. it’s fun to hear your parts fitted into song no matter what genre the song is. i also love seeing you dance because you are one of my favorite dancers in SVT! i’m so glad you’re back after your solo activities, we all missed you lots! can’t wait to see the lovely performances with you in them again. happy 10 years!
