my ultimate loves

ive been wanting to write a blog for quite a while now since I’ve had the time to do so but couldn’t decide what to write about :( in the end, I’ve decided to write a little appreciation for each of my ultimate groups and explain what each group means/ represents to me. This will probably turn out to be a cringy mess but who cares!! and sorry im not very descriptive so all i can do is ramble, i hope thats okay jdsjskdj anyway lets go

super junior; loyalty

to me, super junior is a good representation of loyalty. super junior debuted in 2005, 14 years ago, and within that time they have formed an unbreakable bond- they are pretty much like family, they’re not just business partners, and this has been shown in numerous ways over the years. They look after each other like they are true brothers, and put each other before themselves. I don’t know if any of you this but super junior were involved in a horrific car accident years back and some of the were very badly hurt. when the paramedics came over to leeteuk because he was bleeding badly, he told them to leave him and go to kyuhyun first. This story breaks my heart and it was a horrible accident, but the fact leeteuk was willing to risk his life to save kyuhyun’s shows how much they genuinely mean to each other and that bond is something nobody can break. leeteuk spoke about that incident on happy together (just in case you wanted to check that out) and this is where he also spoke about how he would pretend he had eaten just so he would have enough money to buy the other food. as much as it breaks my heart that leeteuk had to skip meals to feed the other , it makes me so proud to see how far they’ve come with each other. they stuck by each others sides, have been through so much together, and in the end they have become such a successful group. It makes me proud to see that. they started with nothing and worked there way to where they are now whi h each other by their sides.

and now we’ve gotten that out of the way, I wanna talk about the lighter things that show how loyal super junior are and how much they mean to each other. the fact they talk about each other no matter what show they’re on makes me so happy. kangin always spoke about his on a song for you, heechul always speaks about his on knowing brothers and even mentions hangeng and kibum sometimes despite the fact they left the group years ago, henry still talks about his even though he left suju/ sm (he recently spoke about how he discovered his heart nostrils thanks to the other lmao). the fact that they talk about the former as well as current makes me so happy, it shows that their love for each other goes beyond that of work. It’s not just business, they have really gone through so much together that their work status doesn’t matter anymore. yesung and kangin’s friendship is also special- I’ve spoken a thousand times already about how kangin would promote yesung’s solo album on the streets. but as well as that, yesung publicly cheered kangin on with his web drama despite all of the backlash he got and despite the fact kangin was way from the group for years. Kangin also went to super junior d&e’s concerts to cheer them on during his hiatus, showing how ive he is of the . and finally, even zhoumi was showing his for yesungs recent solo album despite the fact he hasn’t been able to be with the super junior for quite a long while.

these are only a few examples but really do show how loyal super junior are to each other and that’s one of the things I love most about them. I love their crazy personalities and their music and their variety skills and everything about them, but seeing their bond with each other really did make me fall in love with them. that’s why super junior represent loyalty to me.

mblaq; strength

oh boy the mblaq situation….

if you know the mblaq situation then you most likely know why they represent strength to me.

mblaq have been through so much over the years that the strength they had in order to get through all of that is inspiring to me. their company was terrible and never looked after their artists properly. although this isn’t mblaq, I quickly wanna mention what they did to madtown too since they were from the same company. i can’t which member said this, I’m pretty sure it was h.o on his youtube channel, but he explained how their managers made him get his own makeup artists and own transport to his events with his own money, which already shows how little they cared about their artists. its not the artists job to arrange all of that..

now onto the mblaq situation… g.o exposed all of the company’s wrongdoings on his youtube channel, so lets all thank g.o for that sdkjdsfsf. he spoke about how the company wouldn’t allow them t have a comeback because the company was basically bankrupt, but they also wouldn’t let the get a part time job since they were still on contract. this meant that mblaq had no way of earning money and there was nothing they could do about it. the company went defunct in 2017 but never made any official statement, they were removing mblaq’s profiles from their site yet still said nothing. In the end, g.o had to make the announcement himself that the company was no longer a thing so mblaq has been left in the dark- they’ve been on hiatus ever since. the shouldn’t have to make this announcement, the company should. As well as that, the managers once cancelled one of their fan meets either the day before or on the day (can’t which) without any reason whatsoever so many people were angry. g.o said he felt embarrassed and really bad so he tried to organise a fanmeet himself with his own money but the managers wouldn’t let him do so. they also had no one managing their fan cafe so it was always filled with spam and nobody did a thing about it, they just didn’t care. the managers were also known for being rude to the female fans. and lets not forget about the company throwing away mblaqs first #1 trophy :expressionless: these are the things g.o spoke about on his youtube channel after the company fell apart and he also spoke about how hard it was for him when thunder and joon left. during the time the left, g.o became depressed. he started drinking a lot and pushed away all of his close friends. he picked himself up and stayed strong for one more comeback with the 3 remaining , mirror. they haven’t had a comeback since.

they went through so much, all of that and probably more yet here they are. g.o is now happy with being a YouTuber, he’s very honest and open about how the idol life affected his mental health, and he’s getting married this year. he’s much happier than he was and that makes me happy. thunder is doing his own solo music and has his own label called lighthouse. Joon is an actor, although we haven’t actually heard much from him since the whole military thing happened (I really hope he’s doing okay, I’m glad he’s taking all the time he needs), seungho has since signed with an acting company and he’s recently been discharged from the military, mir has also just started up his own youtube channel and seems to be doing well.

this is why mblaq, to me, demonstrates strength. they’ve been through so much, they didn’t deserve any of that, yet they’ve fought through it all and to see them doing much better now makes me happy. It’s one of the reasons they’re a huge inspiration to me, particularly g.o. the fact he’s so honest about what he went through, how it made him feel etc. is really inspiring. he’s really open about his life when he doesn’t even need to be, he actually got a lot of negativity about starting youtube and quitting the idol life but it’s what he enjoyed so he stuck with it and now he’s doing really well. the former and current are on good now too and mir and thunder even went on a talk show together this year. It makes me proud to see how strong they’ve been and how far they’ve come as a result.

hyukoh; individuality

hyukoh are one of the most unique bands I’ve ever come across and their whole style just screams individualism. I know everybody says their favourite groups are unique (which they are of course, each group is unique in their own way) but I think with hyukoh, their uniqueness is visible even if you just looked at a photo of them, even without listening to their music. they have such a distinct style, and each member has their own style too. we have oh hyuk the bald tattooed boi who is really shy and awkward, inwoo the loud drummer with his crazy personality, donggun the long haired calm and collected (sometimes) member, and hyunjae the member who wears crazy outfits and is unpredictable. they are different and they embrace that, they’re not afraid to break boundaries and that’s great. and that’s what you see just seeing them at first glance, their uniqueness becomes even more prominent when you look into the group properly. theyre not afraid to stand out and they are just genuinely themselves. when they’re on variety shows they don’t have the pressure to be these perfect idols and to be funny- they’re awkward, they’re different, and they’re okay with that. that’s what makes me love them even more - society is extremely judgemental and we have these standards that we’re expected to follow, we worry about how we look to others and whether we fit in, but hyukoh don’t care about that. they show others that it’s okay to be different and to stand out- if you’re different, embrace that. It shows that individualism is an important thing, you don’t have to fit into these norms and it’s okay to be your own individual. I think that’s super important.

Oh hyuk also said before that instead of making music based on what’s the trend at the time, he does whatever the hell he wants. You can tell this is true based on how diverse their music style is - each song is completely different yet still has that hyukoh sound. They have their rockier songs like Jesus lived in a motel room, leather jacket, die alone, or they have their chill songs like comes and goes, wiing wiing, then they have something completely different like skyworld or wanli. Their discography is so different and diverse but it has that hyukoh sound to it and I love it so much. It’s one of my favourite discographies and I highly recommend listening to them if you haven’t already - you’re bound to find a song you like because their music style is so varied. Even when covering Stevie wonder - isn’t she lovely, they managed to make it their own and gave their own little touch to it.

so yeah, I know I didn’t write as much for hyukoh but really, I love them so much. They promote individuality and I think that’s an important message to share in today’s society. It makes me realise that it’s okay to be different and I’m sure a lot of people feel the same way. I love hyukoh’s style and their diverse personalities, each member is different from one another and I think that’s what makes them fit so well with each other.

bts; motivation

My final ultimate group is bts. To me, they are motivation. This section is going to be really cringe so please feel free to skip this if you want sjdflksfd. But tbh, bts are my favourite kpop group of all time (oops I feel like a lot of my mutuals would think its suju), and I don’t really publicly talk about them as much so it’s kind of hard trying to word this section in the way that I want it. their debut (along with fantastic baby by big bang lol) is what got me into kpop so without them, I don’t know if I would’ve stumbled across my other favourites or not. But anyway, their love yourself series in particular is what means the most to me. I know music isn’t that deep to lots of people but music has meant a lot to me ever since I was a child and I tend to associate certain songs with certain memories, I appreciate the meanings of songs and I form somewhat an attachment with some songs? I don’t know if it sounds weird to word it like that but I’m sure some people can relate smffds. But yeah that’s basically what happened with the love yourself series, it grew somewhat of an importance to me. I wrote a blog before about learning how to love myself and it was about how that album in particular spreads such a good message. Yeah, it’s just music and yeah ive seen people say the lyrics are generic but in the end, bts has me singing “I’m the one I should love in this world” and “you show me I have reasons I should love myself” at the top of my lungs and I feel happy when singing it. I never in my life thought I would be able to say those words and mean it.

I’ve mentioned before in my shitposts about how my anxiety is really bad, I’m really self conscious and I’m potentially on the autistic spectrum. I know this is a little depressing to bring up so I’m sorry fsjdfd but these things make it a little difficult sometimes with every day life and I get overwhelmed easily, but something that always makes me feel better is music. I listen to bts a lot in particular and this is where my attachment to the love yourself series comes in. it really does spread a great message but it also helps me to feel good about myself, singing those kind of things like “im the one I should love” is something I’m sure a lot of us would never tell ourselves otherwise, that’s why I think the album is really great despite the fact it may mean nothing to somebody else and that’s why it means a lot to me. I listen to epiphany and serendipity when im feeling down, and I also love songs like magic shop and love myself. I don’t know why but those kind of songs make me feel a little more confident in myself and also make me feel somewhat calmer when im feeling anxious. It was also really great hearing these songs live in concert teehee, hearing thousands of people singing those lyrics all at once was beautiful.

And now as to why I associate bts with motivation,,,, Bts helped me open up a little more in college. i was that quiet kid in class that didn’t say a word to anybody but when I noticed somebody else liked bts, it gave me something to talk about and helped me gain a little more courage. i still didn’t really make friends but it helped me to speak to others thanks to our common interest of liking bts and I know that sounds simple, but that was huge for me because I’m not really great at talking to others so it made me happy that I was able to do so. it made me realise that maybe talking to others isn’t as scary as my anxiety makes it seem, and that motivates me to try harder. i know it all just sounds really dumb but bts mean a lot to me and they motivate me to keep trying and to become more confident with myself. I get that “kpop isn’t that deep” but sometimes little things like that really help with taking small steps and I think that’s okay. :^)

this one felt really dumb to write about because i dont really talk about bts often, so explaining why they mean a lot to me feels really weird, im sorry it got personal :flushed:

and yeah, that's all! i feel like this blog was kinda dumb but i think we all have our own reasons as to why our ult groups are special to us so i thought i would share mine. i really really love suju, mblaq, bts and hyukoh so it felt good to explain why i do!! thank u for reading if you got to the end, and im sorry if there were any weird typos throughout, i wrote this on my laptop which has autocorrect lmao thank u, have a good day!:^)
