Quality Blogging Requirement Ideas || Helpful Hints

I am back with another b the #HelpfulHints series. Today I am here with some quality blogging requirement ideas. We use these requirements in my community and I find this criteria very helpful in determining what to feature. I thought that I’d share it with you all! If you would like to use these requirements as a base and add to or change it as you please to adapt it into your own community feel free!

Before we get into the criteria that I use for quality blogging we first have a few things that need clarification and definitions for that will be referenced throughout. We use these definitions in my community but feel free to change it to fit your own.

F͟e͟a͟t͟u͟r͟e͟d͟ W͟o͟r͟t͟h͟ ͟y:͟ A blog that is considered the “best” of our community and is presented on the featured feed. Overall it must be aesthetically pleasing and is typically a blog that interests and captivates its audience making them want to read it!

1 sentence = 8+ words

1 paragraph = 6+ sentences

A͟e͟s͟t͟h͟e͟t͟i͟c͟a͟l͟l͟ ͟y  ͟pl͟e͟a͟s͟i͟n͟ ͟ ͟g/ go͟o͟d͟ o͟v͟e͟r͟a͟ ͟l͟l͟ a͟e͟s͟t͟h͟e͟t͟i͟c͟:͟ Any blog that contains good grammar, matching color scheme (background & photos) and/or has dividers, and gifs/pictures that is placed in the right place to make it fit with the overall concept of the blog.

When posting/ writing your blogs be sure to include the following criteria that is specific to the type of blog you are writing. Following each of the criteria is an almost guarantee that your blog will make it to the featured feed at least in my community. The general rule is that you must include most if not all the criteria that is mentioned to make it to the featured feed. If you don’t follow all the criteria there is a very reduced chance of you getting on the featured feed.

Edits (themes, mood boards, etc.):

Example ➪ Edits w/ description

• 4+ edits

• Background information/description — 4+ sentences to a paragraph per edit (quality of your description matters)

• Good overall aesthetic

Blogs (reviews, articles, etc.):

Example ➪ Review

• 5+ paragraphs (quality matters)

• Pictures/ gifs must be included for visualization

• Good grammar/ punctuation

• Good overall aesthetic of the blog

Quizzes

Example ➪ Quiz

• 10+ questions

• Questions/ answers are factually correct

• 1 paragraph description of the quiz

• Good grammar/ punctuation

• pics/ gifs included

• Good overall aesthetic

Interviews

Example ➪ Mod Team Interview

• 10+ questions

• 2 or 3+ sentence answers

• Gifs/ pics included

• Blog is overall aesthetically pleasing

Polls

Example ➪ Poll Example 2

• Background info about your poll— 2-3 paragraphs

• Pics/ gifs relating to your poll

Group Issues

Example ➪ Group Issue w/ post explanation

• 6+ posts included

• Good overall aesthetic to you issue — dividers, pictures, layout, etc.

• Include picture of the blogs included in the issue, who wrote the blog, small 2-4 sentence summary of each member post included in the issue.

Recruitment posts

Example ➪ Group Recruitment

• Include “What is the group about?”— 1-2 paragraph summary/ overall overview of the group.

• List positions for the group— explain each position (not every position is self explanatory)

• Explain how to apply

• Include screenshot of leader approval

• Overall blog is aesthetically pleasing— includes pics/ gifs and overall layout is good

These are the requirements that I use in my own community to determine whether or not a blog should be featured. The featured feed is supposed to feel like a huge accomplishment that rewards for making high quality blogs which is why it’s important to have standards. The featured feed also encourages people to post when they know if they work hard their blogs will be seen by everyone and be featured. Even though it seems like a lot of work the turn around will be so much better for your community because of all of the great quality content this will encourage!
