Welcome to another of my open letter style blogs. I'm absolutely loving making this series. It gets a lot of people talking and bringing up their opinions, and I really appreciate that. So I'm going to be coming another topic today, and that topic is phases.

*What if I was wrong all this time? Why if I was living a lie?*

I want to make sure you know, jus in case you need a reminder, that it's okay to have phases. It's okay to change and grow as you go.

"Grow as we go" is a really good song, just putting it out there...

I want to tell people that it's okay to be confused, and to have phases. A big thing I comply see in the community is "it's not a phase," but I want to tell you, it's okay if it is.

Whatever your phase may be, it okay. If a gender was your phase, straight was your phase, or you've tried out multiple labels as phases, it's okay.

I think some people struggle with switching their labels. They feel like maybe they were lying to everybody the whole time, and that it's too late to change now. But darling, it's never to late.

*I already have a flag I love and everybody knows me as one thing . . . it's going to be difficult to change*

I know, it's it easy, but nobody said it would be. But you'll be happier being your authentical self. Even if you are closeted and changing, it's okay. Maybe you feel like you've been lying to yourself. But you weren't. What happened is you grew.

You aren't betraying anybody by changing, not even yourself. What you're doing is being honest. It's okay to try a label and realize it didn't work. We're all learning, no matter what stage of life we're at. No matter how long the phase.

"What about the people where homosexuality really is a phase?"

I cannot stress this enough, really.

Phases are okay.

Even if being gay was just a phase like all people often claim it is, it's okay. You're not a disgrace to the community. You're not a lier. What you were, was changing and growing and learning.

*I have a friend that homosexuality was just a phase for. And that's okay. They were figuring themselves out. She wasn't just trying to be like another friend. She wasn't a disgrace to the community. She's not the reason parents make comments about i being "just a phase." I love her, and always will. She just grew and learned that being straight was for her. And that's perfectly okay.*

So what if you experimented and then realized it wasn't for you? It's fine. We all got here somehow, right? It's okay is you had a phase. It's okay if straight was your phase.

Just please, keep in mind that it's okay to grow, and that phases are okay.

That's not all I have to say though. I'm not done yet.

Although it it is 100% acceptable to have phases, it is not okay to tell someone else that their identity is just a phase.

Under no circumstances, is it alright to tell another person that their sexual or gender identity is just a phase. Because that is none of your business. It is for that person to figure out.

*You hear that Mom? It's not okay to tell me it's just a phase to be like my friends. For me, I know it's not a phase. So don't you dare tell me otherwise.*

Nobody should be telling you that it's just a phase. You have no pressure to be, or to not be LGBTQ+. Whatever you are, it's your place to discover it. It's up to you to decide weather it is a phase or not, not anybody else.
