Hello, everyone! Its Fire here with my part of the Space #Takeover. Today I will be sharing with you some of the most interesting space legends!

Most legends and myths have been debunked by scientists but they are still interesting to learn and read about. Especially if you have a fascination with the planets and stars.

The idea of nuking an asteroid to destroy it has been made popular by many science fiction movies such as Armageddon. While it may seem like a logical solution in movies, it would actually end up doing more harm than good.

A powerful blast to an asteroid is more likely to break it apart further and turn it into a cluster of thousands of smaller asteroids. This is because most asteroids are massive heaps of rubble. It would be like a shotgun blast hitting the Earth.

Instead of one big asteroid, there would be a great many smaller ones raining down onto the Earth.

Some researchers believe that a smartly designed and well directed nuclear attack may irradiate the surface of an asteroid and push it off of its original course. For now, this is only a theory.

The face on Mars is the most popular legends of all space legends and is a constant debate between skeptics and believers.

No probe from any country has produced images of faces or monuments on Mars. The high resolution images that do exist show only sand, rocks, canyons and mountains.

People who embrace scientific research and the information that comes back from all the Mars missions consider the “face” of Mars as a cases of pareidolia, a psychological phenomenon that causes people to see patterns in a random stimulus. This often leads to objects being given human characteristics. It is much like relating clouds to certain shapes.

Though many people choose to believe that there is a face on Mars, scientists have proof to debunk the myth.

They say the the “face” on Mars is nothing more than an eroded mesa in Mars’s northern highlands.

The moon's dark side is named because it never faces Earth. People didn't see the moon's dark side until a satellite was launched into orbit by Russia. The satellite was able to send images back to scientists and shows that as it rotates and orbits the Earth, the sun shines equally around the entire moon.

When we see a new or dark moon here on Earth, there is a full moon on the opposite side. We just are not able to see it from our vantage point.
