The next day wasn't any better. People were still talking about what happened yesterday. I guess Chloe was right, she'd probably never live it down. Marinette tried her best to ignore the big crowds and ignore the remarks they made as she walked past. If she didn't give them the attention then maybe they'd stop?

"Hey spaghetti girl!" Guess not. She squeezed her way to her locker to pick up some books when she was crowded by a group of girls.

"So you're the girl that Chloe dumped lunch on? Sucks to be you." They exploded in a fit of giggles as Marinette rolled her eyes. She wouldn't let them see her crying. She slammed her locker shut she noticed a brunette approaching.

"Alright guys! Keep moving!" Marinette glanced back to see Lila addressing the crowds. What was she doing? "I said move it people!" She pushed past them and stood in front of the bluenette. "You ok babe?"

"Umm, yeah."

"You don't look it." Lila looked her up and down become smiling sweetly. "Listen, you probably don't have the best impression of me but I want to help you. Chloe and I don't get on at all so I'm sorry you were caught up in that during the story writing business. I don't like doing anything with that girl."

"Me neither. I thought I could trust her but then she does this." She gestured to a few students that were hovering around, probably whispering about her.

"I guess we're more similar than I thought. Right that's it. Get your friends and come find me at lunch. If you're with me Chloe wont try anything; I'm the queen bee around here. Much to her dismay but let's be real here, I'm so much better than her." Lila gave a small wink.

"Yeah, yeah you really are." Marinette smiled brightly, for the first time in a while. Lila went to leave but stopped in her tracks.

"If Chloe tries anything, come find me." Marinette nodded as Lila strutted away.

"I hope I'm doing the right thing by trusting her." She combed her fingers through her hair before walking to her next lesson.

For the next few days Marinette persuaded the others to sit with Lila. At first they were hesitant but after a while they realised that Lila was being completely honest and did actually want to make sure Chloe didn't try anything else.

The days turned to weeks and even though the event was still being talked about, Lila had managed to find something else to shift their focus when comments turned too nasty.

Once again Marinette was sat next to Adrien on the bus home. They didn't really speak that much anymore (much to Mari's dismay) but they were still close. They mainly only shared the often "hey" or "how are you?". But Marinette was determined to change that.

"Hey Adrien? Can I ask you something?" Adrien brushed his hair out of his eyes and tucked his phone away.

"Yeah sure, what is it?"

"Do you think Lila can be trusted? She seems genuine but with the whole Chloe situation I honestly don't know who to trust anymore." She shrugged slightly as Adrien thought for a moment.

"I think she can be trusted, yes. She hasn't done anything over the years that trigger alarm bells like Chloe did." Silence drew between the duo once again as the bus carried on moving. Marinette blocked out the noise from the rest of the bus as she fidgeted with her fingers.

She was about to speak when Adrien started talking. "I should probably apologise for not being around on that lunchtime. It was my fault none of us were there as I had some errands to run and the others agreed to help out."

"You have nothing to apologise for Adrien. You didn't know Chloe was going to do what she did."

"Yeah but I still feel guilty. I don't like seeing you upset." Adrien pressed the red button close to his seat to tell the driver his stop was coming up. "I'll see you tomorrow Mari." As he stood up he winked at Marinette before heading off.

God, this boy was playing with her emotions so much... she had to tell him soon incase she missed her chance.

Back in maths Mrs Perry finally agreed to move Marinette away from Chloe. She now sat next to Lila. Marinette was too busy daydreaming to hear the lesson. She only realised she'd spaced out when Lila started shaking her gently.

"Hey, you ok?"

"Hm? Oh yeah I'm fine. Just thinking about some stuff."

"If you're sure." Lila shrugged and gestured to her book. "You missed the working out for this, copy it up before Mrs Perry notices."

"Thanks Lila." Marinette moved the book over to her and copied down the question.

"No problem, it's what friends do." They were silent for a minute before Lila whispered. "Is it a boy?"

"Is what a boy?"

"The reason for your daydreaming? Are you thinking about a boy? Or girl, hey I'm not one to judge." Lila smiled brightly as Marinette contemplated telling her. In the end she gave in, Lila could probably figure out she was right from Mari's facial expressions anyway.

"Ok fine yeah I'm thinking about a boy." Marinette said it so quietly it was almost impossible to hear. Lila grinned and rested her head on her knuckles.

"Who's the lucky lad?" Marinette shifted uncomfortably in her seat as she looked to the floor. Before she could answer the bell rang.

"Saved by the bell." She murmured under her breath as she left the room.

It wasn't that she didn't want to tell Lila, she did. But she didn't want to make the same mistake twice. She didn't want to tell one of the most popular girls in the school who just so happened to stand up for her. Lila seemed genuine, but then again so did Chloe. After the whole Chloe fiasco, she wasn't ready to trust anyone other than Alya, Nino and Adrien.
