Hello everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve made posts in here and I’ve been wanting to come back. I didn’t know how to, especially when I have a podcast to make content for now but I’ve thought of a solution: ask questions in here from time to time when I want to make a movies/tv shows focused episode so I could read out your answers(with permission of course). Now to move on from my quick explanation of my return, I want to ask you all which movie/tv show genre do you think is becoming too stale or overstayed it’s welcome in media? Is it stale for the genres of today? It’s tropes are too overused? I look forward to hearing any answers!

For me at least it's horror since there's nothing that's really changed the horror genre since the nineties.

There truly is! Unfortunately I feel too many companies keep wanting to play it safe with the same old formulas because either they don’t care or they know that a general audience will still eat it up

Exactly! And it's a shame because when you look online and you see what creatives are doing outside of the mainstream space there's just SO much to tap into!

There really is, I honestly hope that there could be a rise in attention to indie movies in time and get the spotlight they deserve

Can't think of anything but I do like the question. For tv I think the cop procedural thing is just REALLY overdone at this point. That and the odd couple husband and wife this is kinda tired. Honeymooners, Simpsons, Family Guy everything seems like a derivative from those.

What do you mean by cop procedural thing?

And I highly agree with the odd couple dynamic, it’s been overdone and should be revamped with new, innovative dynamics

Between CSI and NCIS alone there are like 10 shows! That entire genre where there's a cop from blah blah with blah blah in their past which left them scarred but they have a heart of gold and a strained relationship with their kid because the job took over their life and there's an attraction between them and blah blah but they won't explore it because of blah blah. It's completely cookie cutter and way too abundant

Holy crap yeah that does sound repetitive as hell, especially when they seem to have the same premise over and over again
