Coming off an NBA Finals appearance in the previous season, which was their first since their championship season of 1977, the Portland Trail Blazers entered the 1990-91 season with high expectations, winning a franchise-record 63 games, which is good enough to secure the NBA's best record seeking a return trip to the Finals.
However, after dispatching the Seattle SuperSonics and the Utah Jazz in the first 2 rounds, the Trail Blazers ran into Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers where they would lose in 6 games and earned the right to go up against Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls eventually going down in 5 games for the start of their own dynasty.
Eventually, the Blazers would get their long-awaited Finals meeting with Jordan and the Bulls the following season and actually win 2 games but still go down in 6 games.
In your opinion, did you think the 1991 Trail Blazers truly meet expectations despite losing in the Western Conference Finals?
