One of the biggest underdog stories in recent history is Fred VanVleet who went undrafted in 2016 out of Wichita State but was picked up by the Toronto Raptors where he went from an unproven commodity then to a very good rotation player who is one of the integral parts of their 2019 championship team to an All-Star level player and along with Jimmy Butler among others they were the definition of a player who bet on themselves throughout their lives to get to where they are right now.
