Part 2: Dr.Liao, 1st Victim

Liao: Hello? This is Doctor Liao’s office?

???: Hello Ms.Liao, I'm calling from the Research and Robotics division. I wanted you to talk to you about a few things regarding your special Echo project.

Liao: I’m sorry, but I don’t have anything or a project fully made by the name of Project Echo… Who is this?...

???: …

Liao: You are the caller aren’t you?... Why do you want me? What do you want from me?!..

???: What do I want?... I want to play a game… It’s a simple game, all the best ones are… But these rules are life and death…

Liao: …

???: Try and trace my call… and your death will be today…

Chapter 2: Dr.Mina Liao, First Victim…

Dr.Mina Liao, a well known robotics and engineer that was actually one of the head creators of Omnics and the Omnium. During the first Omnic crisis, Dr.Liao was also blamed a lot for the destruction that The Omnics caused. After the destruction she fell down to a very low point in her life, until she felt a second chance when one Jack Morrison would meet with her and offer her a chance to redemption at fighting against The Omnics and working at the new group known as: Overwatch.

Dr.Liao was told about this mysterious phone caller, The Killer known as: L0-K1. Several months ago he ed Jack Morrison with a warning:”Five Names, Five Deaths… All of them will die because of you…” She didn’t believe the warning at first but overtime she couldn’t take any chances. She would walk into her lab with several other employees working on machines on workbenches around her.

“Dr.Liao! We are all ready for your demonstration!” One of her employees would say to her, scaring her a bit as she just turned around and looked at the man with a look of slight fear on her face. Today was actually the day where she would reveal the first test of her Echo Project, she didn’t tell anyone but her most trusted staff about Echo. She would go back to her phone and then say. “ Get Me Blackwatch, CodePhrase: Delta Seven Nine!”

BlackWatch would respond fast by sending two of their field agents towards Dr.Liao's lab. Their names were: Cole Cassidy, and Moira O' Deorain. Their mission was: Secure Dr.Liao and bring her to protective custody.

The two agents would be standing next to each other, as they would wait as the elevator they were in would begin its long descent. “Things are getting a bit interesting eh?” Cassidy would ask, trying to start some sort of conversation. The thing with Moira is, no one likes her. Everyone is terrified of being near her, they think she can be known as a devil in disguise. Cole tries to be nice to everyone he works with, including the devil known as Moira.

Speaking of Moira, she didn’t even respond to Cole. She was too busy looking at something on a small device on her gauntlet. For a few minutes he kept trying to start a conversation and still she didn’t respond. She would raise her head up slightly to give Cassidy a very annoyed looking look on her face. "I suppose so… But again I guess what goes around will come around…"

Everyone has their own suspicions of Moira, but in Cole's eyes it would seem way too easy if Moira was the traitor. She gives off so many untrustworthy vibes but her loyalty does lie with Blackwatch and to Gabriel. "We're here…" She would say as she walked first out of the elevator.

As the two enter the lab, a bright blue light shines above the room. This light was from the faceplate of Dr. Mina Liao's project: Echo. The Robot seemed to have activated and was floating around, they would notice Cassidy and with a happy look on her face she would float down towards Cole. " Hi there Cowboy!" She would say in a happy upbeat tone. The two of them just sparked a good friendship so they were good pals. Everything in the room looked so clean, and suddenly so quiet. There were always employees in here, where did they go?..

"Howdy partner, is ya MA in? We kinda need to talk to her about a few things…" Cassidy would place both of his hands on his belt, truly rocking the old cowboy style. He met Echo on a punishment of sorts, Gabriel sent Cole to be an errand boy for Dr.Liao so she assigned him as the one who watches over her robot Echo. Over time the two began to be good friends.

“Mother? Do you mean Dr.Liao? I mean, I guess you can call her my mother… But she is currently unavailable at the moment… She thinks that someone is after her… Are you the person?” She tilted her head in confusion at why Cole always acts like that, the classic cowboy persona and all the strange questions. Another strange thing, Echo being out and Liao was no where to be seen. Liao was always nearby if Echo was activated, who activated her?

" What? Oh no no no! We're here to stop the bad people coming after her!” He would say putting his arm out. “ It’s very important that we find her fast! Do you know where she would have run off too?”

Moira would raise her hand. “ In her office right there, I think…” She would see that Liao’s office window was broken into. As the two agents entered, they saw the inside of her office absolutely wrecked.

" Echo… What the hell happened here?" Cassidy would say as he grips onto his pistol. He didn't like what was happening, there was no sign of the doctor either.

Cassidy then heard yelling behind him, Moira was using her biotic grasp to make Echo kneel. " Speak Robot, where is your master?" She commanded, Moira may be a but she can be a really good interrogator. She enjoyed inflicting the punishment too, a sick pleasure of hers.

" Hey! Hey! Back off! The hells the matter with you?!?! We don't torture comrades!" Cassidy would shove Moira away and then kneel down to Echo. " Echo you alright? Come on girl, talk to me!"

"Showing comion to these things is a sign of weakness, giving machines too much life and we have risks of them wanting more and more… Then we have another crisis… You need to learn to show discipline if you're going to survive cowboy… I'm going back to inform Gabriel… Find whatever evidence here that you can and meet back with Reyes…" With those orders she left Cole to treat the robot.

"C-Cassidy…" Echo said as she was in pain, she raised her hand and showed Cole her recent video data bank. It was a silent kidnapping, a bunch of people dressed in dark black robes and Omnic masks.

The leader was dressed in red robes, he turned and looked towards where Echo was resting. She would be off at this time, but her video feed is always running in case someone was near her or someone was trying to attack her. The leader kneeled down and said in a synthesized voice. " Doctor Mina Liao, for so long you tried to fix a mistake that you caused… Because of the role you played, you constructed an army in hiding and when the time was right… Thousands upon thousands of people died… All those lives lost, because you believed that machines were the future… Yet you were one of few who created them… You were not fully responsible… I believe in a fair trial…so we will take you to a place… Where you must prove to yourself that you value your words… Let the game begin…" The video feed was recorded only 10 minutes before Cole and Moira arrived.

Their leader was the wanted killer: L0-K1, the same L0-K1 that made the phone call to Jack Morrison a few months back. He is playing his hand and somehow so easily, how was he able to get into the base without anyone seeing him? What happened to Liao? There are only more questions than answers.

Cole would the video file and run back to the command center. "Gabe! Jack and Ana! Lock down all base exits now!" He would yell into his communicator as he ran.

At the command center Gabe would be talking with Jack and Ana, he would turn to his communicator and say. " What the hell could have just happened since I sent you and Moira down there?"

" LIAO IS TAKEN! THE VIDEO FEEDS SHOW THAT L0-k1 TOOK HER! HE MAY STILL BE TRYING TO GET OFF BASE! SEAL ALL EXIT HURRY!" Cole would be running to the main plane hangars to tell the crews to lock down all the ships.

At the Blackwatch command center,Jack and Gabe would be issuing orders. " I want all of those exits sealed! All over, Lock down all exits and all soldiers on full alert! Keep the staff inside and await further orders!" Gabe would say as he went to grab his combat gear.

"Commander Morrison! We have a ship somehow broke through our shutdown protocols, it's commencing an emergency launch! It's from hangar seven! Scans show several lifeforms aboard and one of them is Dr.Liao!" Jack didn't waste too much time and ran to the hangar with both Gabe and Ana following behind. " I WANT SENTRY TURRETS WITH ION SHOTS READY TO FIRE AT ANY SHIP OUT OF HANGAR SEVEN! ION SHOTS ONLY! WE HAVE HOSTILES AND A HOSTAGE ON BOARD!"

" There's a shortcut to the hangar from the barracks, it's the fastest way there!" Gabe would run to the barracks door, only for several stealth null-sector robots to be there waiting and open fire. "GET TO THE HANGAR I GOT THIS!" Gabe would shout as he fought the machines.

Jack and Ana made it to the hangar and saw the ship taking off, Jack tried to shoot several times. " Shit! It's taking off!" He would yell, they have seconds to stop them.

" I got it!" Ana would yell as she took his gun and with expert sniping, she was able to disable a plane wing. She would run to the door and as she opens it, there are just bodies and no Dr.Liao. " It's empty! All I see is…" She would hear the sounds of just repeated laughter, like that of a child but broken and distorted. She pulled a small doll that was built like an Omnic and on its face has: Examine Me.

As they took the doll to R&D, tech master: Torbjorn Lindholm would completely tear the doll apart and find a random DVD inside of it.

Jack, Ana, Gabe, Torbjorn, would all sit as the DVD showed L0-K1's Omnic mask staring at the screen. No voice is heard, only white text like before. " Looks like I won the first round… Don't look sad, there are still 4 left… She's still alive, for now… Come to London… We will trade there… If she survives…"

As the video ended, Jack stood up. " Gabe, you pick one person out of your team… Only one, because you two are going with me and Ana to London…" Jack sounded very angry, he was not going to be played like this so easily. It may be a trap, of course it would be. It's all part of the game… The game has truly Begun.
