Yo, this was an extremely old post I made on August 3rd, 2017. This was supposed to be a collab with Mama, but she kind of left and pussied out on the project. I could care less, it's been sitting here and I want to get it out of my drafts. A waste of bloody space for more important post.

Like chapter Six of Hop, Skip, and a Jump

This was made when I was still going on about how repetitive the game is and mained Lúcio. Enjoy you bloody twats.

Ah, Lúcio, my boy.

Easily my favorite hero in all of Overwatch. I love his playstyle and I have grown accustomed to his projectile speed, his damage, his Aura range, his potential wallriding speed, it's all second nature to know this by heart.

But what if you play him for so long, you know EVERYTHING about him?

Not only do I know his projectile speed and damage, I have memorized his healing per second, the amount of time it takes to heal a Reinhardt, his exact movement speed with Speed, it eventually became extremely easy to play him.

But what if I told you that I have a way we can fix these problems?

But first, we need to quickly review over what I find wrong with Overwatch.

°•◇◇------------------------------------------------◇◇•°

The Main Problem: It's Repetitive

Now I know that I've said this WAAY too many times, but Overwatch is repetitive. To the Call-Of-Warfare-Duty-Medal-Battlefield-Honor player, Overwatch is a great game. It has new a new way to play a game every single time, and everyone has unique ultimates and abilities.

But the only problem is, that is the ONLY ultimate and abilities they have. Once you learn every single one (Which doesn't take more than about a week or two) Overwatch already starts to lose that charm.

And that isn't all. Overwatch is a game that only consist of 16 different maps (from the time this is being written) and has Seasonal Events that are basically the same thing with new skins and a revamped gamemode. But I have a few solutions that would actually help bring alot more players back.

°•◇◇------------------------------------------------◇◇•°

Solution One: Contract System

I want to being up a little game we all know...

PALADINS

Okay, now boo-fucking-hoo if you don't want to hear about this game, but I need to bring it up for the sake of my argument and how well this contract system would work.

Paladins has a system in place where it would give you new challenges to complete everyday with some cool rewards for completing them. Such as a Treasure Box, (Which is basically Paladin's version of a Loot Box) Experience Points, and maybe something better if you get lucky with your challenges.

Now the reason why I really like Paladins is because of this system. It always brings me back with this because it doesn't make me feel lost when playing. It rewards you for playing different heroes, playing the objective, or playing your role properly.

I feel like this would fit perfectly into Overwatch because of how much Overwatch revolves around playing other heroes. Some contracts could be "Play Zenyatta for 3 rounds" or "Block 5000 damage as Zarya". It would encourage players to play new heroes and MAYBE (Just maybe) stop one-tricks.

Solution Two: Changing Abilities of a Hero.

Mmm, is that confusion I smell?

What I mean is, we should be able to switch up or adjust a hero's abilites. Now I know this sounds quite confusing, so let me clear up this fog in your head real quick.

Let's say that one day, I decided I was a little bored with Bastion's same old healing ability. I've been using it since the closed beta and I wanted to use something different. Either I could tweak Bastion's healing ability to make it more unique (EX: More healing per second but the meter gets used up faster) or I could replace that ability with another ability.

This is something that has a VERY small chance of ever getting noticed, but I feel like this could potentially bring some people back if implemented. This is much like custom loadouts, one could change abilites if they wanted to and/or adjust abilities to their liking. Like how I could increase Amp it Up's healing and speed potential but also increase it's cooldown time.

This is something I've been thinking for a while now, but I thought about this system and thought it would be pretty interesting to see what the community would think of and what abilites could be tweaked so they could have their own different playstyles and unique ways to play the game, so one hero doesn't ALWAYS have to be played the same way to get amazing plays and the greatest potential winning chance.

Someone seems cranky :joy: this is well spoken though. It would be interesting to have something like in HOTS where you could choose your ultimate from a pool of provided ultimates, and maybe take that one step forward and extend that feature to abilities in general.
