Hello witchy friends!

Today I'm hoping to show you how to make the most of what you've got on hand to give your magick a little extra oomph! I don't know about you, but I'm still working on building up my supplies after my move, which means that I have a *serious* lack of colored candles. I know you can use a white candle as a replacement in just about any spell, but I wanted to play around with personalizing some tealights.

All in all, this was really easy and took no time at all- under and hour to make six candles.

What you'll need:

⛰ Tealights or old candles/stubs

⛰ A container to hold the candle as it sets (I used the Tealights containers, but you could just as easily use old jars, candle holders or shells)

⛰ Wicks (Again I used the ones from the Tealights)

⛰ Something to melt the wax in (you can do this in small microwave safe bowls or in a double boiler type system)

⛰ Items to match your intentions (this could be gemstones, herbs and spices, essential oils or dyes- protip, crayons are great for changing candle colors!)

I started by picking my correspondences- I decided I wanted to make purple candle, yellow candle and red candles so here's what I chose for each:

Purple: to awaken the mind and stay focused, bring psychic/spiritual aid, healing, connection, astral projection, peace and protection I used pine needle, lemon and rosemary essential oils, dried lavander buds and black salt.

Yellow: to clear negative thought and awaken positivity, aid concentration, creativity, mood swings, healing, protection, luck and happiness I used grapefruit, lime and lavander essential oils, curry powder, allspice and pink salt.

Red: to ward off enemies and increase energy, enthusiasm, strength, vigor, will power, courage, harness anger, and for use in love/beauty magick I used cinnamon and sweet orange essential oils and chili flakes.

Start by removing the wax from the container and removing the wick, on Tealights this is really easy.

I chopped the wax up so it would melt faster, and set a shallow pot of water on the stove in super low heat. I then placed a few aluminum baking moulds holding the wax in the water.

When the wax was all melted I added my ingredients in one at a time and used toothpicks to stir it into the melted wax. I used the toothpicks much like little wands to infuse the wax with my intentions. Then I dipped the bottoms of the wicks in the wax to stick and stuck them to the bottom of the container so they wouldn't move around when I was filling them.

One at a time I poured the wax back into their containers. The spices all settled out, so I just scraped those in and gave each candle a stir for even distribution.

When the candles were more set, but not fully set, I sprinkled more chilies and salts in the tops of the respective candles.

I'm super happy with how simple this was! I think they all came out really well and I'm very excited to use them in rituals and spells.

I love crafting items for my personal use; it makes me feel more connected to the items I am using and I feel like it makes my spells stronger. Many witches, especially the younger ones, worry about having the "right" tools to use, but it's important to that our craft is personal to each and every one of us, and the most powerful magick come from our hearts and our intentions. You can make powerful tools just as easily as you can buy them, and often its a lot easier than you might think! I hope some of you found this useful and might use this idea to personalize your craft.

Peace, Love, Unity, Respect

Xxoo
