Hi all! Hope all is well this lovely, sunny day 🥰 :sunny: :leaves:
I was rereading a sea witchcraft book of mine, and I came across a sea centering. Initially, I thought it was really lovely, but there are some elements in the text I am about to show you that rubbed me the wrong way.

I plan to do some personal revisions to this, so that I’m able to use it without appropriation. I’m sure we’re all familiar with the community note that ‘energy centres’ are preferred and more correct than ‘chakras’, due to the true nature of them vs, the westernised practice.
My main issue is with the mention of Hindu deities, Kurma Nadi, Pandit Rajmani etc. I’m not Hindu, though have grown up in a country where there’s a significant Hindu population; I’d like to be respectful and brainstorm alternatives to these mentions where possible with you guys. I’m honestly not sure what’s fine to dismiss or modify.
Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions!
Best wishes,
~ V :ocean:

If you're particularly worried about the gender binary associations I tend to see them less as societal genders and more of types of energy. For example, to me, "masculine" or "male" energy is an up and out type of energy, an externalizing and active energy. Whereas "feminine" or "female" energy is down and in, its reflective and and internalizing.
That's just the way I tend to interpret. Even as a cisgendered female, I do live in queerness and read those types of associations differently
Yeah you'll find info in basically every witchy book that's varying flavours and extents of iffy. Reading critically is important :purple_heart:
Agreed! As a Nyx worshipper, love your name 🥰
Tbh as a Hindu myself it's not really appropriation to use Hindu names as a correlation! And personally I wouldn't mind as much if some content had it unless it was incorrect information! We actually love having our culture and our religion being discussed!🩷🩷🩷🩷 Though I don't have much idea on the context of the energy centres as much I don't think it's offensive in anyway!
Thanks friend 🥺
I think, If you speak about energycenters you can also use the word energychannel. The energychannel that regulates the stability of body and mind. It starts between the first and the second energycenter and climbs up to the throat.
Thank you!
