Hello everyone and welcome to this week's OWC! This week is a split challenge about mistakes we’ve made in our practices: #PaganFail!

This is a throwback challenge to an old OWC favorite we did a few years ago, #WitchFail!

(original challenge post)

Anyone who’s been practicing witchcraft or paganism for any amount of time knows that there is ample opportunity for mistakes to be made in our practices. Sometimes on social media, we tend to only show off the most perfect versions of our practices. But let’s be honest-- we all know that not every ritual goes perfectly, and not every prayer is received well. Sometimes things don’t end up going as planned: we spill hot wax everywhere, we get incense dust in our eyes, our cats jump onto our altars at the most horribly inconvenient time, we accidentally overcook our food offerings, our parents or roommates walk in on our skyclad rituals... ya know, the usual. There are plenty of awkward situations or mistakes that a witch or pagan can find themself in on a regular basis. And that's okay!

We encourage you to look back on your witchy or pagan mistakes this week and find the humor in them, or reflect on how you have learned and grown from them!

Blog prompts to consider:

:black_small_square: Tell a story of a time you made a silly mistake during a ritual and how it ended up.

:black_small_square: Tell us about a time something went wrong in your pagan practice and how you dealt with it.

:black_small_square: What have you learned from your past mistakes in your practice?

:black_small_square: Tips for avoiding mistakes (ex: fire safety, herb safety, etc)

Have gone round cleansing the house with incense and no incense holder = scented ash on the carpets and floors. Burned essential oils that were very potent, whole house smelled like tea tree for weeks. Forget to snuff candle after ritual, wax ended up everywhere.

i was meditating in respect for brigid (who is associated with fire keep that in mind) and i was just reciting a chant calling her down and thanking her when i decided i wanted a sprite. I WAS MID CHANT when i got up right? WELL. the second i got up the orange flame that represents her clicked really loudly and scared the ding dang crap outta me. i soon learned that i really disrespected her, but i think we are on good again lol
