:ocean: Hello PA! Lucy here with the interviews! I can't believe it is summer but... I interviewed a friend Sophie enjoy! :ocean:

L- 1- You’ve been here for about 20 days. What is your favorite thing about PA?

S- My favorite thing is the community. So far everyone has been so nice

L-2- What do you like to do with your horse?

S- I like to do with my horse most is I like to experiment with him. It’s never anything that could potentially hurt him. Some things I like to do are which shampoo works the best, does he respond better if I do this, etc.

L-3. What is your favourite thing to do on PA?

S-Definitely chat with people! As I said, everyone is sooo kind

L-4. You’re in the journalism committee, what is the best thing about that?

S-Definitely either working with amazing people or doing the research. Most of the time what goes in the article I didn’t know before!

L- great job! Thanks so much for your time!

Pets graduate from college

Our pets are always there for us when we need them the most. So, it only made sense when it was time for Eckerd College in St. Pete to host graduation that it should incorporate a special ceremony for all the four-legged, scaly or hairy companions. This year marks the college's 7th annual pet graduation commencement. "She's like my rock," said Bonnie Bradley of her dog Shiloh, one of the pet graduates at the ceremony. "I think the same goes for all of us. These are all like our emotional babies." Around 30 pets received their certificates Tuesday evening. Among the beloved pets were dogs, cats, snakes, bearded dragons, rabbits, a guinea pig, a tortoise, a fish and even a hedgehog. A service dog named "Gibbs" had an entire entourage behind him as he took the stage. "He's been my dog for seven years; he's been at college here with me for three years," Hunter Blencowe said. "I'm on the search and rescue team, at least a third, probably half the team was here tonight, and I definitely cried when they all stood up and screamed for Gibbs." Hunter says her parents even planned on flying in but had to go to an event at her brother's high school. ers for the bearded dragon named "Luna" cheered from the audience and held up a poster with her name. "As I'm like typing away on my laptop and stuff, she's always just been sitting there with me on my shoulder," owner Nicole Vangettum said about Luna. Eckerd College says 15.6 percent of its 2,000 students live with their pets on campus. The college ed 304 pets with its student-run Pet Life Council for the 2018 to 2019 school year. The college also has more than 200 pet companions.

Hello guys! My name is Katokaa and this section is where I can tell you some fun facts about some animals each issue! Today, I'll be telling you some facts about 'Flamingos'!

Flamingos Facts:

1: The Flamingo's colour of their feathere are a result of their diet. Pigments in their food (called carotenoids) are responsible for the red and pink colors of their feathers.

2. When Flamingos eat, their head is positioned upside-down!

3. Flamingos are monogamous (they have just one partner) and they produce one egg each year.

4. The visible 'knee' of the flamingo is actually ankle t. The true knee is close to the body and can't be seen because of the feathers.

5. Flamingos live in large groups called 'colonies'. Some 'colonies' consist of million birds!

Helpful Pet Tips

Hello PA! It is me Clicker, and today I will be giving you some health tips for your pets! Many of these you may know, but it is always good to see them up here as a reminder! Anyway here are my top ten tips!

~ ♡ ~ ♡ ~ ♡ ~ ♡ ~

1. Prevent seasonal allergies

Does your pet start to itch as soon as the snow starts to melt? Book an appointment with your vet to determine whether he’s suffering from seasonal allergies. If so, help relieve his symptoms by boosting immunity, transitioning him to an anti-inflammatory diet and doing your best to limit his exposure to common seasonal allergens such as pollen.

2. Scan for toxic plants

April showers bring May flowers! Just be sure they aren’t going to harm your beloved pet. Take a stroll up and down your street to identify any toxic flowers or shrubbery. When taking your pet outside, keep them far away from these dangerous plants. While you’re at it, check with your neighbors to determine whether they’re using any toxic fertilizers or pesticides that can make your pet sick if accidentally ingested.

3. Secure open windows

Kitties love to lounge in open windows, breathing in the fresh, spring air and soaking up the sun. There’s no harm in this pastime, just be sure your screens are safe and secure, and patch any holes that may have materialized over the winter months. No need for a lost cat during the summer! Keep your pet safe!

4. Protect him from the sun

In some locations, heatstroke and sunburn won’t be much of an issue until the summer months. If you live in the south, however, it’s important to be aware of these environmental threats. No matter where you live, keep in mind that your pet is transitioning to warmer temperatures and stronger UV rays the same way you are, so don’t let them run too hard or bask in the sun unprotected for extended periods of time.

5. Keep him away from wildlife

Hibernation season is over, and creatures large and small are lurking in forests and fields. If you’re are letting them out, make sure to watch them so they leave wild animals alone. This will keep them – and all the fellow critters – safe from harm’s way.

6. Safely store chemical cleaning products

Starting your spring cleaning? Always store any harmful chemical-based cleaners where your animals can’t access them. Better yet, switch to all-natural cleaning solutions – they’re safer for you, your pets and the environment!

7. Exercise caution around streams and rivers

Like children, companion animals are at risk of falling into fast-flowing bodies of water. Thawing ponds and lakes also pose a risk to off-leash dogs who don’t know any better, so be sure your dog is well trained if you plan to let him roam free. And always hold a leach close by, just in case something happens!

8. Keep bugs at bay

Ticks and fleas and mosquitoes – oh my. As temperatures rise and insects start breeding at high rates, it’s time to ensure your animal is protected. Start by removing all stagnant water sources – AKA bug breeding grounds – from your property. Next, look for natural insect repellents rather than chemical spot-on treatments, which are harmful to his health. Finally, boost his immune system to offer an extra layer of protection from bug-borne illnesses such as Lyme disease, malaria, and heartworm.

9. Grooming and Cleaning

We all know what it is like to deal with hair! Make sure to groom and/or clean your animals as much as they need it. It helps keep them healthy and helps keep your house clean!

10. Protecting your animal

If you have a small animal make sure to keep them safe with a small fenced-in area with shade. Make sure your toys are safe for your animals and have a great summer with your beloved pets!
