What’s Going on With the Pets?

Hey everyone, I have not been active on amino much at all, especially not the pet amino so I am sorry about that but sadly I cannot say that I will become more active. I have a lot of classes, I’m going out of town next week, I’m going out of town at the end of December and beginning of January, and then I’m going to go on a trip with my friends in March I believe so I have like no time :joy: . Since I have not been active and probably won’t be active for a long time I thought I would at least be fair to do a little update post on the pets.

Katie

Katie is doing pretty well. Lately she has become SUPER cuddly which I think is pretty common with cats as they age. Her and Rio are actually both on my lap right now :joy: She is estimated to be 8 years old this year so she is now a senior kitty :) A not so great thing though is that whenever she gets scared she poops or pees. She did that when we first got her but then she stopped and now she’s doing it again.That has become a problem because Lucky is the one scaring her. Katie and Lucky used to play and cuddle all the time but now Katie hisses and poops under my bed whenever Lucky tries to play with her. It is only at night so I am able to have Katie sleep in a separate room than Lucky and then during the day I put them back together and they are totally fine. Since I have been putting Katie in a separate room there is no longer poo under my bed that needs to be cleaned up which is a relief 🥲

Ivy

Nothing has changed with Ivy. She still loves treats and butt scratches :joy: Ivy turned 5 years old in November and on Christmas we will of officially had her for 5 years which is crazy! One of my mom’s friends is a photographer and she adores Ivy so she took some pictures of Ivy for us one day. I will show you guys some of them :)

We actually almost got a second dog earlier this summer because one of our friends was moving and could no longer keep their dog. She ended up giving her to someone else though. She was a GSD x Great Pyrenees x Belgian Tervuren named Kyra and she actually originally came from the same breeder as Ivy but they are not related. I would love to get a second dog but I think the only way it would happen is if we know someone personally who needs to rehome their dog.

Wesley

Wesley is doing well too. His eyes are looking a little out of the norm to me though so I’m trying to figure out if it’s anything or if it’s just because he is getting old. Like the whites of his eyes are really distinct even though he isn’t scared. He turned 7 years old in May, I can’t believe that my baby is so old :sob: :two_hearts:

Lucky

Literally nothing new with Lucky except he is now 3 years old and we have officially had him for three years :four_leaf_clover:

Rio

Rio is just the sweetest little boi like usual. He is currently sleeping on my lap as I am writing this. I swear he is the friendliest, chillest cat ever and I have probably said that a million times already. Like he literally plays tag with my youngest brother and follows him around everywhere. He is literally like a dog, he will be calmly sleeping on my lap or on the bed and as soon as he hears my little brother (or anyone for that matter) running up the stairs he springs up and dashes to the door to wait for it to open. Rio really likes to eat ribbon though so we have to keep balloons and gifts away from him during birthdays because he eats the ribbon and then pukes it up :expressionless: . I’m happy that he at least gets it out of him but like can’t you do that in the litter box or just like not eat it??? Rio also loves going in places where he is not meant to be.

Chickens

So Iroh and Lemon went missing back in June and never came back so I think a fox got them. I was super sad, especially since Iroh was my favorite chicken. We ended up giving some of Lemon’s eggs that we hoped were fertilized by Iroh to my neighbor for her broody hen to hatch. Sadly only one of Lemon’s eggs hatched and it was an adorable white and black frizzle pullet who we named Katara. Since only one chick from Lemon hatched my neighbor gave me three of her chicks that she had just hatched. So we got four new chickens! Katara (white Frizzle hen with black spots on her back), Suki (a white bantam cochin hen), Toph (Easter Egger x Cochin rooster), and Beau (black sex link hen). A few days ago I let all the chickens out to free range and they all were in their coop when I went to put them away in the evening except for Katara and I couldn’t find her anywhere. I was really upset because she was my favorite chicken’s baby and was my new favorite chick. It was cold and dark and she can’t really fly so I was worried something had caught her. The next morning though I looked out my window and saw her running around the coop trying to figure out how to get in so I happily went outside and when she saw me she ran over to me and it was like she was saying “Mom!!! I can’t get into the coop! who in the world closed the door?!” :joy: Next spring I am really hoping that Katara and Suki go broody and will hatch some eggs because I would love some more chickens, especially bantams!

Tango

Tango has become a really great horse. I haven’t been able to ride him for a while nor work with him a lot since school started but I like to just hang out with him. He is super fun to watch and brush and his ground manners have improved SO much! I can’t if I posted about this or not but he went to two trainers earlier this year for ground manners and lunging. Both of the trainers think that he definitely has at least one other breed in him besides Arabian and I agree. They think it’s most likely Thoroughbred which I find pretty ironic because ever since I worked at the dressage barn I was like “I aM nEvEr GeTtInG a ThOrOuGhBrEd” because the ones at the dressage stable were terrible and honestly so were their owners lol (sorry…). The other option was possibly a Quarter Horse but since he has such a light build I think Thoroughbred x Arabian is more likely. I would love to do a dna test someday though to find out for sure. When the photographer came to take pictures of our family and Ivy she also took some pictures of Tango and I so I thought I would post some of them :) I have way more pictures of Tango that both the photographer and I have taken so I might post more of them on here sometime.

Peanut

Okay so when I first got Peanut she wanted nothing to do with me and it literally took like a week for her to let me just TOUCH her. She still can be a little shy of people but once she lets you start petting her she absolutely loves it. Whenever the trainer comes over though (her previous foster parent/trainer) Peanut doesn’t let me come near her and I’m like “I swear she likes me!!!! :sob: ” and the trainer is like “sure…well just keep working on her lol :wink: ” And then after the trainer leaves, Peanut will be standing next to me with her head resting on my shoulder while I sit on the mounting block contemplating my decision of adopting a mini mule. So you don’t get to chose when you pet Peanut, she decides when and for how long. That’s how it is with miles. She loves running around, getting scratches, eating any treat (especially Apple licks), and she is kinda way too attached to Tango. She’s like this annoying little kid who has a crush on a boy but he only likes her as a friend yet she follows him around and makes him share everything with her :joy: She is literally the cutest, smartest, fluffiest little babe though and I love her.
