Hello people, ChampionD on the scene. One of the things I enjoyed about Sword and Shield, was the emphasis on the title of Champion. The Gym Challenge, the Champion Cup, and especially the final battle with Leon brought to mind the Champions of old. I began to wonder how Leon stacked up against previous champs, which has spawned this list. Without further ado, here are my top 5 favorite Champions.

First up on our list is...

5. Champion Lance

My Top 5 Champions-[C]Hello people, ChampionD on the scene. One of the things I enjoyed about Sword and Shield, was the empha

When I first played Soul Silver, after I defeated the last of the Elite 4, I was brought before this Champion. To say I was nervous would be an understatement. My hands were sweaty against my DS lol. His appearance, his Champion room (Love the gold trim), all exude power and status. Coolness. Not to mention the way he destroyed Silver in Team Rocket's underground base, all reveal this Champion's power. Though I love Lance, not having a full team of dragons urkes me.

4. Champion Iris

My Top 5 Champions-[C]Hello people, ChampionD on the scene. One of the things I enjoyed about Sword and Shield, was the empha

The idea of this young Champion rising and proving that she had what it took to hold the top spot, is pretty inspirational, not to mention that she battles with a Haxorus as her ace, one of my favorite dragon types. We don't see her much through the game, which is unfortunate. But all the same, I appreciate her as a Champion and her growth between black and white and their sequels. Her re-design is fantastic, and her memory link flashback was a nice touch to her character. But like Lance, she does not use a full team of dragons, Which URKES ME. But all in all, a good Champion.

3. Champion Leon

My Top 5 Champions-[C]Hello people, ChampionD on the scene. One of the things I enjoyed about Sword and Shield, was the empha

I love Leon! Simple. The way the game builds this Champion's status is well executed. He's there throughout the game, and as a true Champion, he sees to the dangers that crop up through Galar. He's committed to protecting the Region and feels it's his responsibility to do so. He takes his status as Champion seriously but also enjoys the thrill of a good battle. Leon is an excellent Champion with an excellent team. His easy-going nature and desire to be a sort of mentor, yet wanting to let the player and Hop find their way, is an appealing aspect of his interactions. Truly one of the highlights of the games he features in.

2. Champion Steven Stone

My Top 5 Champions-[C]Hello people, ChampionD on the scene. One of the things I enjoyed about Sword and Shield, was the empha

I loved Steven in ORAS. He's there throughout the game, and without a doubt, he wields a powerful team. But where Steven comes alive for me is in the anime, particularly the mega evolution specials and his episodes of the XYZ anime. He has a truly epic battle with Alain, which revealed his truly enormous power as a Champion, and not to mention the fact that his Mega Metagross held its own against Primal Kyorge. Steven reveals himself to be a grateful, kind, and confident Champion. He challenged Team Flare like a boss and fought along Champion Diantha, whom he showed much respect for. I love his style, his strength, and his subtle confidence — a genuinely wonderful Champion.

I'm sure this comes as no surprise to anyone.

1. Champion Cynthia

My Top 5 Champions-[C]Hello people, ChampionD on the scene. One of the things I enjoyed about Sword and Shield, was the empha

For many people, Cynthia is the standard for what a Champion should be. I wholeheartedly agree. I love her intelligence, her peerless power, and comion. She comes with you into the distortion world to protect Sinnoh and the whole universe at that. The way she fosters the growth of younger trainers reveals her kind and nurturing nature. But as quick as she is to help trainers, she's just as ready to throw down in battle. She wiped the floor with three of the Elite 4 in the anime (Bertha probably decided it wasn't worth the effort lol) Even though Unova is not her region, she was ready to protect it and its people. Her team is fantastic, and of course, her Garchomp has crushed many dreams. Whenever she appeared in the anime, I was giddy, and watching her demolish Paul was beyond satisfying. She believes strongly in the bond between Trainer and Pokemon while also wielding truly legendary power. And of course, I can't forget to mention that her battle with Elite 4 Flint was epic. Truly the model of an amazing Champion.

Well, there we have it, people, my Top 5 Favorite Champions. I haven't seen one of these lists in a while, and after playing Sword and Shield, the desire to make this list wouldn't stay contained. I hope you enjoyed it. Champion D, g off.
