“When spring greets her, it does not bring rebirth. It gifts remembrance. Flowers bloom from the wounds she never speaks of. Their stems sturdier than last bloom.”

𝐏𝐨𝐞𝐦 𝐛𝐲 𝐕

𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑩𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒎

In the breathless time,

She blooms where roots climb.

A maiden forged from trunk and vine,

Braided hair in branches twine.

Her eyes open half-lidded, dreams become undone,

She whispers with the morning sun.

A secret held in silent gloom

The ache, the grace of First Bloom.

One arm is gnarled, a forest’s cry,

The other lifts the buds to sky.

She is not woman, not quite tree,

But a soul still breaking free.

From earthen womb her gown unfurls,

Petals drop like ancient pearls.

Each stroke a breath, a hymn,

A prayer for what the winter made dim.

She does not mourn her rooted fate,

But weeps for love that came too late.

Still…through decay, through sorrow’s loom..

She dares to hope, she dares to bloom.

I wanted to exhibit the threshold between stillness and growth, decay and awakening.

My patience is tested with pointillism style, but now that’s all I feel like doing after finishing this small piece. The results make the effort all the more worth the time.
