❝you have enough electricity inside you to power a 40 watt lightbulb for 24 hours, so why aren’t the firefly-like embers in your eyes glowing? are you really going to allow someone to steal your ability to light up your own life?❞

𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 —

alex blithe montgomery

-

𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 —

the female version of alex is of greek origin meaning “defending men”. it is one of the most evenly divided unisex names these days; strong and energetic, if overused, for both genders. alex is a perfect name for a girl if you don’t want to saddle her with the full-on alexandra, which is exactly what her parents were thinking in the process of naming her. it has the tomboy-ish appeal that parents nowadays are obsessed with. her name isn’t short for anything like most, just alex. they chose to be fluid with naming their child simply because they liked the idea of giving their kid a name that could go either way. when we generally see a name in writing, we automatically make judgements about that person. so in giving a child a unisex name, you blur those lines, and give that child an opportunity to be who they want to be, freed from the social expectations of their gender. alex grew up loving her name and wouldn’t change it for the world! she plans on carrying on the legacy of being open-minded with her children (if she were to have any) just like her parents did for her.

the meaning of blithe is “joyous”, “carefree”, or simply just “happy”. her parents were in love with this name when having her, and regardless of what is said above, it was actually very close to being her first name. they had it all planned out to be blithe rose montgomery, but made a last minute change after discussing raising a child with free will. just because blithe isn’t her first name, however, doesn’t stop her parents from calling her blithe more often than alex.

strangely enough, montgomery translates to “man power”. there is an odd theme in her full name having to do with men. it’s ironic, because she is such a feminist. “i’ve been a woman for a long time now. i’d be stupid not to be on my own side.” that’s her motto. the meaning doesn’t mean anything to alex, but she always jokes around about why she couldn’t get her other dad’s last name instead of montgomery. she’s just narrow-minded at the fact that it holds a stupid title. the name “pearson”, which is her other father’s surname, is derived from the name of an ancestor—“the son of piers,” i.e. peter; the french pierre, old english pearse or piers. she thinks alex pearson sounds a lot cooler than alex montgomery, but at the end of the day, she’s grateful to be under both of her parents arms, regardless of name.

-

𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 —

besides her parents and surrogate calling her blithe since she was a baby, she’s been called a few different nicknames. from any form of lexi to ally, friends might refer to her by these shortened names. there’s not really a need to, because alex kind of slips off of the tongue with ease, but nicknames have never been too finicky with her. she thinks they’re cute and personal and will hardly get uptight about them if called by someone else—as long as it’s friendly. she doesn’t do too well with insults, but that’s not out of the ordinary.

𝐚𝐠𝐞 + 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲 —

seventeen. september 11th. virgo. virgo is an earth sign historically represented by the goddess of wheat and agriculture, an association that speaks to their deep-rooted presence in the material world. virgos are logical, practical, and systematic in their approach to life. this earth sign is a perfectionist at heart and isn’t afraid to improve skills through diligent and consistent practice. virgo is governed by mercury, the messenger planet of communication. smart, sophisticated, and kind, virgo gets the job done without complaining. virgos are amazing friends, always there to lend a hand and also lend advice. virgos expect perfection from themselves, and they may project those high standards on the other people in their life. a virgo hates when someone lets them down, even if it’s minor and unavoidable, like a last-minute cancellation. with that, virgos generally have a rich inner life, and can sometimes seem shy at first meeting. a virgo won’t spill secrets right away, and it’s important to earn a virgo’s trust, but once you do, they will be a friend for life. known for their grace, virgos can always talk their way out of sticky situations, and everyone is charmed by their wit and ability to put others at ease. if you think that you’re dating a shy virgo, trust that those walls will fall down in the bedroom. one of the most ionate signs, virgos specialize at connecting to their physicality, and this earth sign loves and celebrates physical connection with their partner—that is, if they have time for a relationship. virgos never want to disappoint the people in their lives, so they may spread themselves too thin and put themselves last. virgo’s desire to have everything be perfect can manifest in frustration when things don’t live up to those (sometimes unrealistic) expectations. besides occasionally leading to fights with friends and partners, virgo’s focus on perfection can cause everything, even ing an instagram photo, to take forever. learning to go with the flow and accept the idea of being good enough is a constant struggle.

alex was born in vancouver, washington. vancouver is a city on the north bank of the columbia river in washington, and it holds as being the largest suburb of portland, oregon, also being the fourth largest city in washington. vancouver is home to a growing and ever-evolving cultural ecosystem, with a variety of artists, arts and cultural organizations, institutions of higher education, a historical museum, a national historic site, and other arts and cultural venues such as festivals, outdoor concerts and markets. this is the birthplace of grunge music, after all, and outdoorsy, book reading, craft beer quaffing hipsters are the norm. the trick to living in vancouver—or anyplace that gets this much rain—is to stay busy. most residents suggest the best way to deal with the climate there is to get outside and and delve into it, and not surprisingly, that’s what a lot of people do. it works. that being said, waterproof jackets with hoods are essential and the umbrella sales soar here. living in in this popular city would mean having one foot in the country and the other in suburbia. rivers, foothills, and mountains of the cascade range dominate the visual landscape. you’ll feel like a part of civilization but live only a short drive from backcountry wilderness. gray skies and precipitation definitely play significant roles in the hormonal state of washington.

in the late fall, when the leaves turn, the hillsides around town are a patchwork of orange, brown, and reddish hues. it lasts for a few weeks before they are blown to the ground. if you pay close attention, you’ll notice that fall has a bittersweet, mulchy smell of lightly decomposing leaves. the change of seasons here is visceral. on clear winter days, mt. hood gleams bright white from freshly fallen snow. the foothills of the cascade mountains also shimmer in the sun after a dusting of the white stuff, too. while it snows often in the surrounding foothills, snow within vancouver is infrequent and generally no more than a nuisance. about once per decade, a foot or more will accumulate. here’s the good news: when the rain subsides—sometime around june—you will be richly rewarded. all that rain that comes down during the fall, winter, and spring creates a very verdant landscape. green is everywhere and in large proportions. trees here grow tall. you might even buy a home with a 200-foot-tall souglas fir tree in your front yard. the summers here are amazing. while the conifers remain green year-round, the deciduous trees add another layered canopy to the forested areas when in bloom. meaning, summers here are even greener. there are more than enough daylight hours to enjoy the warm weather. summers here are mild compared to many other places in the united states. temperatures rarely pop above 100°F.

𝐬𝐞𝐱, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬, 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 —

female

she/her/hers

alex was born a girl and there never was or is a dull moment in being one. she loves living in her natural-born skin, and not only that, but she is very ionate for gender equality and rights! she loves her fellow ladies out there, but feminism includes all genders. there is no if, when, or but about that.

-

𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 + 𝐬𝐞𝐱𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 —

oh, the wonderful world of repressed teenage feelings. yeah. alex has definitely been through it. now, despite her never actually being in a real relationship before, she’s thought a lot about what she wants in one. she knows a part of her limit and of course has a sense of what she’s attracted to, but giving herself a title with that attraction scares her away from even thinking about it in the first place. these labels can be super helpful, but the process of her trying to identify herself has been so incredibly annoying for her to figure out. for someone who has two gay dads and is pretty knowledgeable about the lgbtq+, she has a significant amount of trouble with finding herself. she would never take this to anyone, simply because she is afraid of being transparent with something so meaningful. afraid to mess it up, take it back, offend someone, and commit to something she’s not ready to commit to—her sexual preference. she’s always looked at it more than just a preference, however. you choose your labels. you choose who you show them to. you choose when they change, if they change. alex simply believes that none of us are just one of anything. if she’s funny for a little bit, she might be really sad in two hours. that doesn’t change that she’s funny; it just means that at that moment, there’s been a shift. she is definitely much more sexually fluid than she thinks she is, but at the same time, she’s scared of what that means and what action she’d have to take following that huge title. it’s hard being a perfectionist and not knowing what you are. it’s one of the hardest things she’s done. after hours of googling and doing research, she has finally allowed herself to come to the conclusion that she’s questioning, because that’s as close to a label as she can get right now. to any outside person who is curious, she will tell them that she is just heterosexual.

-

𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 —

human. alex doesn’t believe in supernatural or anything of the sorts; she is too much of a realist for that stuff. it’s rare for her to read or watch anything majorly fiction, for it makes her cringe and talk nonstop about how that’s just not “practical”. the only thing she kind of follows is astrology, but even that can sometimes be a stretch for her.

-

𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 + 𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 —

american, australian, brazilian. she doesn’t know much about her culture or ancestors, for a part of her heredity comes from her surrogate and they haven’t talked much about it. alex currently lives in the united states, and unfortunately, she’s never been out of the country. it’s on her bucket list, however, to go somewhere like italy or venezuela. she’s not entirely set on where exactly to travel, and she’s open to other ideas, but the goal is to go somewhere far for a bit before she reaches 30. she doesn’t follow any religion, so you can say she’s atheist, but she’s never said so out loud. she’s never thought too deeply into her disbelief with church. her ethnicity is caucasian.

❝i have standards i don’t plan on lowering for anybody, including myself.❞

𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 —

alex has porcelain skin with a cool undertone, which is annoying to her considering how much time she spends under the sun. she doesn’t tan super easy, but when she does, her skin will maybe go two or three foundation shades darker. this can’t happen without a nice sunburn, though. her skin is oily and sometimes she’ll use blotting sheets to cope, but she normally just leaves it as it is. her makeup look consists of powder, some mascara, and eyebrow gel. that’s it. she is pretty much acne-prone, but she’ll occasionally breakout in her t-zone; her forehead and nose. this has only happened a few times due to the stress of finals week or other major events. her skincare routine is a simple rinse-with-cold-water-and-go, in which her friends have scolded her many times about how that’s not a “real face routine” but she doesn’t care too much. if she had breakouts all of the time, it’d be a different story, but she was graced with beautiful skin.

-

𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫 —

her hair is naturally a dark brown, but she’s bleached and dyed it blonde enough times for it to either damage her hair or make her natural brown appear lighter. one of the two. you can tell it’s dyed because her roots are way darker than her dirty blonde hair, but at some point she stopped dying it so frequently after considering the consequence of dead hair. she keeps it short though, which is good because it’d be much harder to maintain the healthy structure if it were past her shoulders. she’s started fringing it, too—a look inspired by jennifer anniston—her favorite celebrity out there. she ended up loving the results and now it’s her new look. she doesn’t usually style it or anything, but sometimes she’ll throw it in a simple ponytail or a half-up half-down bun if she’s feeling extra that day. she’s definitely been through a journey with her hair. from bangs, to pink, to even a pixie cut, and now this. finally, she’s satisfied. for now, at least.

-

𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬 —

dark, rich brown eyes in the shape of almonds. they are quite small in proportion to her face. sometimes they’re so dark they become inky; almost black, full of depths one can’t begin to fathom. when the sun hits them, they are brilliant and clear. she would never say this about herself, however. not because she doesn’t like her eyes, but she just doesn’t think that way. they’re simple brown eyes. not much too them. even if they were blue or green, she wouldn’t think much of it. oddly, this feature doesn’t get her in the way it gets most. maybe it’s that you can see through them and the vulnerability that comes with that makes her uncomfortable.

-

𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 —

casual all the way. alex has a signature style—very precise, very basic. you will hardly ever see her wearing anything other than black, white, gray, brown, beige, etc. her version of a “pop of color” is blue jeans, in which she wears almost everyday. it’s almost sad how vanilla her clothing style is—but she loves it. if you look in her closet, you can find ten of the same small black tanks, but she swears that they’re all “different” in some way. of course, this annoys her parents, but at least it saves them from having to buy her any expensive clothes. she doesn’t mind dresses, she thinks they’re pretty and all, but she’ll only wear them if she has to. it’s just her level of comfort. she doesn’t really do layers, but if it’s cold outside she’ll throw on a puffy coat or light hooded jacket. she doesn’t paint her nails or wear red lipstick, and get this—she doesn’t own a single item of jewelry. it’s not even gifted to her because people know how bland her style is. a lot of her wardrobe is thrifted, but some of the few places she’ll shop at include h&m, urban outfitters, and even walmart.

-

𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 + 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 —

alex stands two inches above average, being 5’6”. this definitely boosts her ego. unlike some girls who are taller, she likes her height. she feels that it fits her personality and vibe, and plus, tall girls are hot because they are closer to the sun. that’s how she describes it. now, two inches isn’t all that and a bag of chips, but it’s enough for her. she weighs 132 lbs, which is decently light for her height, but she is healthy and eats well-balanced meals. she just has a very fast metabolism in which she got both from her dad and surrogate. her body type is ectomorph. she isn’t very muscular, but she does work out immensely in the end of summer all the way up to winter time training for swim season, giving herself a break in the spring before repeating the process.

❝intellect versus emotion. intellect wins. emotion starts crying.❞

𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐬 —

+ smart. alex is known quite a bit for her intelligence, and she’d happily research anything she doesn’t know already. she actually likes school for the most part and loves learning for nerd’s sake. she’d never call herself a nerd, however, because in her experience, she has found the entire “nerd” culture is based off of some sort of unwarranted feeling of superiority and bitterness towards “mundanes”. she believes the word has gotten so overused to the point that anyone will take it and use it as a title to make themselves appear above others.

+ determined. hardworking. sure to take responsibilities seriously. a great achiever, but humble. you will rarely find her bragging or showboating—it’s just not her style. her great achievements are presented with a humble shrug and a self-depreciating comment. she’s just grown up under the rule of being the “hardest worker in the room”. she knows that down along the road it’ll pay off, and any chance she’ll get to maneuver herself into a project, it’s most likely that she’ll go for it. this constant need for validation leads to sleepless night and stress, but she’s obsessed with keeping herself busy—and by busy, i mean absolutely jam-packed.

+ kind. yes, it may not seem that way and yes, she can get unnecessarily aggressive towards you at any moment, but she has her random moments to a select group of people. mainly friends and/or acquaintances, but also pretty skater girls. when it comes to strangers, she is always sure to be overly nice to the girls she meets. it’s just something about her. her goal is to make her impression stick with them in their memory. her aesthetic is girls girls. she’ll stand up for one any time, even if she doesn’t know the story. she doesn’t need to. she has a soft spot for complimenting them and seeing them light up—and she claims she isn’t bisexual. now besides impressing the girls she runs into, she does have a good heart. she doesn’t always show it to people, and she’s rather reserved, but it’s mainly her thoughts that ire others. she’s not a huge communicator, but she absolutely does ire people from afar. her version of letting them know she ires them is just simply by not being an asshole. she always wants to see the best in people. she’s a lot more mushy mushy than what she’ll it to, but her friends and family see it. you’ll know when she cares about you.

+ decently funny. got a few jokes up her sleeve. appropriately witty. she doesn’t always let her humor shine through, but anyone who knows her well is totally aware that she can make people collapse in laughter. her wry sense of humor and sharp observation skills can’t be beat.

- stubborn. once she has a vision of what she wants, no one can tell her otherwise. even if someone has an idea to guide a her in a better direction, alex will most likely shut down and not listen to them. she is very defiant. this doesn’t only go for people on the outside talking at her, but internal battles with herself. her heart has an argument with her head every time it wants to beat. she will feel things and emotions, but it’s rare that she’ll act on them. her single-minded attitude can definitely get her in a lot of trouble, but she knows that. just don’t test her.

- uptight. even though alex is good at hiding whatever is going on, she tends to overwork herself very easily and has mastered the art of not letting go. her pride is much more stronger than her feelings. she could think of someone 24/7 and they still wouldn’t hear from her.

- overly independent. though this may sounds like it’s not a problem and “a young lady must be okay to go off on her own, especially with college just around the corner”, she’s practiced this for a very long time—since she was a kid. she enjoys doing things on their own, even if she really needs the help. she would rather try every way she knows before asking for guidance. her self-reliance comes from the excuse of not wanting to bother anyone, and while that can be true, she really just likes her own rules. she is very precise in her decision making and has a specific image for almost everything; whether it be boys, food, or even types of TV shows she’ll watch.

- standoffish. at first, alex might come off as cold to people she meets for the first time, but don’t let that turn you off—it really depends on her mood in which she just tends to get lost in their own thoughts, which may make her appear aloof. this may carry into relationships even, where she won’t let her friend or partner in fully. with time and communication, she will appreciate your efforts and allow more of you into her world.

-

𝐡𝐨𝐛𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐬 + 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬 —

the first main thing that comes to mind when the topic of hobbies is brought up in conversation is swimming! she’s been at it since she the age of four with just your normal swimming lessons, but once middle school came along, the first club she signed up for was swim. now, she goes hard for the varsity aquatic team at school. she even dreamed of being an olympian when she was younger—of course, this faded, but the thought of dropping out and pursuing this ion does cross her mind every now and then. if only it were that easy.

in her free time, she’ll journal. she doesn’t talk about it much, and it’s totally unexpected with someone like her, but she dips herself into arts and crafts occasionally. she would never bring it up out loud, but when she’s alone, you’ll catch her cutting out cute magazine pictures to glue onto the pages of her journal to make it pretty and more pleasing to the eye. these collages are a nice distraction from the constant reminder that college is around the corner and the paper that’s due at midnight. knowing that she has all of these responsibilities, this time set aside to visualize her life is a necessity.

now, alex doesn’t know how to ride a bike, and she could certainly learn, but frankly, she just doesn’t have enough time on her hands to develop this skill. instead, she loves to skateboard and roller-skate around the neighborhood—or as far she can get with those wheels.

as for habits, alex might have more than she’d like to it. for starters, cleanliness. not the disinfectant wipes kind of cleanliness—or the shower twice a day kind of cleanliness—more like the once-a-week room tidying and super organized desk space kind of deal. it doesn’t need to look super pretty or so perfect that you feel guilty rearranging things around, but messes make her anxious. that’s all it is. she just needs a clean space to work with. not too picky.

at around sixth grade, alex started to get insecure of her teeth. all of her peers were getting braces and transforming into effortless and beautiful beings (as much as you can get in sixth grade), but she was one of the odd ones out when it came to that advantage. over the years, it had turned into her having an insecurity with her teeth where she will naturally cover her mouth when she smiles, laughs, or even eats. she wishes it weren’t this way, and other than this feature, she loves herself. she’s been working on it, though—resisting the urges to cover up when she’ll open her mouth.

another pain in the ass is the high expectations she holds within herself. she is highly conscious and super critical of her mistakes and aims to be the very best at everything she does, even if it’s something she’s not interested in. you can only imagine how tiring this gets, to spend copious amounts of time to perfect something even at the expense of your well-being. that’s alex for you. no one really knows why she does this to herself—especially considering she comes from a family who is proud of every step she’s taken, mistakes included.

-

𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬 + 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬 —

+ alex’s big stamp is black clothes. she has a plethora of black clothing items ranging from leggings, little dresses, satin tanks, etc. she feels very comfortable in this color. not that she’s insecure and black gives off a slimmer illusion, but she is just so attracted to this simple color that it’s incorporated in almost all of her outfits. she never runs out of clean laundry when it comes to this mismatching skill.

+ when she actually has the time, she loves going to gigs/concerts, festivals, ing small businesses, outlet thrift shopping, all the big trendy kind of stuff. perfect dates for nights out with friends.

+ sunsets. she’s not all into that gushy gushy basic stuff, but this is different. she will forever be that girl who gets really excited when the sky is painted with pretty colors. something about the way the sun is shining at the horizon like a yellow ball of fire changing to hues of orange—or how the cotton candy clouds blush at the warm touch of the sun—or when the silhouettes of birds fly home across a sky that was now magenta—or how the mauve of the dusty sky intensifies, and in just awhile, the biggest star will set, providing light to a thousand others; the list could go on. moments like these are what make alex truly feel human and alive.

+ this one is kind of a given considering it’s not really unique to just one person, but she loves her netflix. she loses herself in the world of other characters almost too easily; this results in watching entire seasons in one sitting. you could call it a sport.

- alex tries her hardest to be polite (though not always successful) while remaining humble, polished, and carrying herself in a simple nature. she does not like to blow her own trumpet. even when she lends a helping hand, she does not seek gratitude or attention in return. she is happy with working behind the scenes of things. that being said, she does not like to reveal secrets, whether they’re hers or someone else’s. this is primarily the reason why she comes off as trustworthy person. for her, what happens in vegas stays in vegas. she rarely approves of her friends gossiping about her personal life—and when they do, it’s likely that she will either confront them or never let it go. a little politesse will go a long way and really is the key to alex’s love and .

- thinking about the future. as much as she’s all set for major scholarship opportunities, an amazing resume, and somewhat of a dream, the future is uncertain—and that scares her. she needs structure in her life, so for such a pressured topic to be so far in the unknown, you can only imagine how her bad anxiety is stirred. the worst part is, she doesn’t know what she wants to do. she likes many things but she doesn’t see herself pursuing any of them. that’s where the smarts guilt comes in. she excels in school and lies in the top 10% of her class, yet she has no idea what field she wants to go into. she may appear like she has her whole life in order, but really, she has hardly any idea of who she is or wants to be.

- asking for help. by virtue of her analytical mind and attention to detail, she believes that she could probably do a certain task better than anyone else. that’s alex for you; she’s so hard-headed where she won’t even give you the time of day. the main reason why she hates it, however, is because she doesn’t like to show any weakness or what’s going on under the surface. she’ll take the world on her shoulders if she has to. these qualities result in a calm exterior and a do-it-myself attitude, which drives her parents and friends crazy.

❝i want to spend the rest of my sunsets with you.❞

𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 —

her dad in which alex shares her DNA with, terry pearson, is a professional choreographer and dancer. he has an extremely spunky personality and also dabbles in juggling, which makes sense for the description. it seems like there’s nothing this man can’t do. he’s a little shorter than the average man, being 5’8”. this makes it interesting that alex is two inches taller than average and he’s two inches shorter, but it seemed to work out regardless! he’s definitely the entertainer of the family; always cracking jokes, pulling stunts, inviting guests over, dancing to whatever comes on shuffle in the living room, you name it. this really never gets old in their house. it pulls the family together in the best way possible. it’s almost guaranteed that he can crack a smile on your face, even if you’re in the worst of moods. his bright energy is magnetic and he has that effect that attracts people towards him. it’s happened, too. alex’s friends are obsessed with her dad. the way he bonds with people is so easy and natural, and alex couldn’t be more thankful to have a figure like him in her life.

you know how they always say opposites attract? well, that’s rory montgomery for you. they had a deal that since alex got terry’s beautiful genes, he owes it to him to give alex his last name. rory is very organized and intelligent, a good listener, so alex definitely got more of her personality from him. he never misses a good laugh, though. he’s always cracking up with his husband. they can never get enough of each other. with such a healthy relationship, rory is often home when terry is not. he works in IT as a database manager, which is a day job. terry leads dance classes, participates in functions, marks choreo, and often times, this all takes place during the night time. their bond is so strong, however. they take care of the house and alex whenever they can. their relationship is very healthy, and they couldn’t be happier.

-

𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 —

amy adams is alex’s “biological mother” in the way that she openly volunteered to carry terry and rory’s child. she had been close friends with her parents for years and for a little while they even had a good trio throughout college. they were together all of the time, celebrating nights out, going to study sessions, eating in the cafeteria, you name it. after graduation, however, amy and the two grew apart for a little while. they stayed in touch through facebook, but eventually, she moved back to washington and their friend group sparked up again. she is basically a part of the family considering how close she is with her parents, and whenever she does come over or they meet up, she is sure to bring over the of her family; her husband and two kids.

-

𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 —

unfortunately not. her parents planned on having more kids after her but she was too much of a handful so they decided to keep it at just one. it’s funny, too, because she’s so calm now compared to when she was a child. it doesn’t bother her too much, though. she likes being an only child.

-

𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 —

alex is very precautious when it comes to lust—she often chooses her partners very carefully. love or even something as simple as crushes cannot happen spontaneously with her. every step on the way to strong love and a serious relationship is carefully measured and predicted. alex is very selective, realistic, and practical where she always puts the ratio in front of her heart. her demanding character portrays her as “hard to get” to most—except the ones that are very persistent in their nature and don’t stop after the first try. this seems to be the successful only way of swooping her. she’ll act as if she’s tired of the attention, and a part of her will be, but this strategy will inevitably lead to her coming home with butterflies. as always, if someone attempts at pursuing her, they better be faithful and totally dedicated to love. otherwise, the relationship is doomed to a fast and unhappy end.

luckily, alex has been graced with pretty beautiful friendships in her lifetime. keeping her herd small, yet tight-night, you’ll catch them chasing the sunset on their skateboards, going to study sessions together (though it’s rare that that ever happens anymore), or attending parties and just forcing alex to come with. there’s one person in particular, however, that stands out the most to her. wonderfully sculpted golden skin and silky brown hair, willow conyers takes the crown for a). being a genuinely really good friend (despite the two’s differences), and b). catching stares left and right. most easily described as the yin to her yang, willow is at alex’s doorstep whenever need be. for the most part, alex tends to be one of the more reserved people in the friend group, but being around them makes her feel more at ease compared to if she were alone all of the time. she might take longer than others to open up, but once you’ve gained her trust and friendship, she is extremely loyal to her friends and willing to stick by them even when things get rough.

alex is the proud mother of two cats named luna and burley. you can imagine luna as the beautiful, yet mysterious black cat who jumps from countertop to countertop and escapes the house only to come back with a dead mouse or some other rodent. as for burley, he’s a huge couch potato. his top two favorite things in life are naps and food—the necessities, of course. he is a calico maine coon, and extremely charming. what’s even more charming, is when the family decided to adopt another cat (luna was the first pet), they were under the impression that he was actually a she throughout the adoption process. they quickly realized that they were indeed wrong when he grew pretty hostile around luna. after calling him bella for a few days, they transitioned to burley and had to put him through training to make sure they got along well. after this entanglement, rory and terry have made their decision on no more animals. unlike her parents, alex thinks two isn’t enough and actually wants a french bulldog along with the pets they have now, but just like raising alex, it’s too much of a handful. they’ve gotten so close to agreeing to adopt an older one before, but turned away soon after thinking it through, which really disappointed her. she always argues that “they’re so small and non-problematic” and it’s the same argument every time at the dinner table. the dads preach “no means no” which really means “we’re too old and lazy to take care of another fur baby”.

❝i swim because it’s not about perfection, it’s about persistence. i jump in there and lose myself. the pool is my home.❞

𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭, 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫, 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲 —

it’s not a surprise that her attitude often leads with a sour taste in one’s mouth considering the basis of her personality has been so far explained as standoffish or stubborn; if someone told her she was this way, she would debate with them and defend herself immediately, but truth is, she’s sour. she may not realize it in it’s entirety, but many can argue against her viewpoint. even her parents. she’s sour.

-

𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫 —

alex definitely can come off as a fighter, but deep down, she’s a lover. she gets caught up in the small things easily, makes herself angry, sleeps off her feelings, and then the cycle just repeats. she has a weakness for sweet talkers, but she knows how to enforce her boundaries. she doesn’t let people in generally, but once they’re in, they’re stuck there. she fights for what she loves and she loves what she fights.

-

𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭 —

alex is so go-go-go all the time, so when she gets a chance, she does enjoy having time to herself. in some people's eyes, she may appear as an extrovert because of her circle (they’re all extroverted) and schedule, but this actually isn’t the case. she really doesn’t know how she got where she is today, working all the time and having an interesting group of friends, but it gives her life a little more flavor. she wouldn’t be who she is today without all of these crazy obstacles, so as much as she’d hate to it, she is grateful for her spontaneous friends and plans. she still needs her alone time, though. they had to learn that the hard way.

-

𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 —

as much as it may surprise you, alex is pretty thoughtful when it comes to ing faces, names, and backstories. if she meets someone for the first time, and the first impression could’ve gone better, she will go out of her way to make it up to them. partly because she’s a perfectionist and craves to respected, but she won’t entirely dismiss someone’s feelings if they open up. she loves cracking people open because it makes her feel less guilty about not expressing her side of things. if she just sits and listens, then that’s more than enough in her book. now, it’s a completely different story if she’s angry. if it’s to the point where her frustration is visibly showing, don’t expect her to handle the situation maturely. run.

-

𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐮𝐩 —

stuck up all the way. that’s the thing with alex; she won’t let her guard down. it takes a lot to get her loose, but every now and then, when the mood strikes her just right, she has a tendency to let her hair down and go a bit wild to make up for all of the times she missed opportunities. being around good friends that she feels at ease around often tends to bring out this side of her, but it must be earned.

-

𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐲 —

lucky for alex, organization is one of her strong points. owing to her temperament, she does not go overboard; instead, she analyzes, getting things straight first. emotions are not taken into , which in most cases, is not a good thing, but it sure has kept her in first place for plan of action. to get prepared, she makes the most of her resources. she is clear-headed, and she knows which assets she can rely on. moreover, she develops a very intelligent strategy in order to compensate for her weaknesses. since she is modest, she starts from the premise that there are no givens and that she needs to make every effort.

-

𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 —

logic all day, everyday. alex weighs every decision very carefully, even making lists containing pros and cons when necessary. that being said, emotion plays very little part in decision-making. this can be difficult for dating partners or even friends to understand. many perceive her as cold or lacking empathy, due to logic ruling her life. alex is definitely not cold, but rather, very calculated. ittedly, she is hard to win over, but she likes it that way. it's not because she is prudish, but because she can be very difficult to snag. she is very particular about who she lets in her heart. even when she’s interested in someone, she can have the tendency to put up walls. again, it's not out of coldness, it's out of caution. logic equals caution, and only fools rush in to things; but even so, it is ittedly hard to fully win alex’s heart. many people try and fail. strong come-ons and a shower of presents and attention will doom them from the start. alex prefers subtlety and tempered expressions of affection because, again, logic trumps emotion.

-

𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐦 —

to the world, alex can appear as calm and collected, as it’s rare that you’ll ever see her tense up or get too excited about something she enjoys. this is the persona she wants people to see that makes her act this way, because truly, being numb to everything that comes her way becomes exhausting. it’s unlikely that she’ll ever change, however, as she deals with this constant inner monologue. she has no separation from her work life and her personal life, which is technically good at first glance, but the more you get to know her, the more comfortable she’ll get, and sudden changes in her behavior will throw people off. beneath this calm exterior is a frantic interior that needs to rearrange everything until it is perfect.

❝what goes will come back.❞

on september 11th, a beautiful baby girl was born. nearly being named blithe, alex won majority vote—even the nurses were all for the last minute change. she was brought into the world by her sweet surrogate, amy. she was a family friend whom her parents had met during college. this was before they ever even considered having children, and a few years later, they all came to the mutual agreement that they want to go through surrogacy. it worked out well for alex, that’s for sure. she’s here!

in her early childhood, she was surrounded with an amazing school district with tons of bright kids just like her. she built so many friendships in elementary school, and her father, terry, didn’t work as much at the time, so when she’d come home from school, they’d both be there. her parents spent time with her, brought her to the playground, arranged play-dates with her friends, introduced her to sports at a young age, all of that. they did a good job at keeping her busy as a child; it’s created some beneficial habits for her now. she played a lot of soccer starting in fourth grade, in which she met a few more kids from outside of her district. even though she was on an all-girls soccer team, she met her first ever crush on the field. he was a year or two older than her, and he played on the mixed team of boys and girls. she had always looked up to the older teams, and seeing him during her practices would only make her fall harder. her parents were well aware of this crush, and they loved it. the soccer kid definitely didn’t even know her name, but it’s the thought that counts. alex ed through her classes and grades with flying colors as a young girl, balancing school life and extracurriculars with no problem. her parents were pleasantly surprised.

as the years ed, alex got introduced to middle school, and boy, that was rough. thinking that she’d keep the same friends and interests, she came into the new year and school excited to learn and possibly even meet new friends, but that expectation flopped pretty quickly. her elementary school friends had moved on to other things, and she was kind of left alone—that was until she met a new student in her geometry class, willow. they became best friends right off the bat, and alex even introduced her to the soccer team she had been playing on. they both made it into the mixed gender team for older kids, and now, she was on the same team as her soccer crush. they never really talked, though, considering her and willow were attached at the hip 24/7. she was bringing her home almost every day after school so they could go to practice together, and even though alex started off with a rough start, she made a good impression on her middle school teachers by getting all As and making it into honor roll, along with making a new best friend.

luckily, this pattern stuck with her throughout high school. having a major glow up in her transition from freshman to sophomore year, conveniently, her quaint little friend group turned into a bigger one throughout the year, all prompted by a mix of activities they were all in separately or together. with her involvement in national honor society, model united nations, spanish club, and the varsity swimming team, alex found herself drowning in schoolwork and the stress of being on her feet all of the time. these habits of obsessing over having straight-A letter grades or perfect attendance really only grew more intense as her time at school progressed, and it shows a lot in her character now. she has put aside her friends and family, and even herself if it means she’s getting recognition for her tedious work.

❝tell your mom you think she’s cool.❞

Packed hallways and rooms, people sitting on the stairs blocking the way to and from the bathroom, empty beer cans and bottles left on tables, a blasting stereo, haze from cigarettes, or more conveniently, pot... what can get better than this? Yeah. Anything. Nearly anything can get better than this.

Alex really thought she was off the hook for one night. With swim practice getting cancelled due to the game that night—the lions vs. the mountain lions (the district couldn’t come up with any name other than lions, apparently)—she had finally earned herself a well-deserved break. Well, that was until Willow rung her up in the middle of a really good part in her show, so obviously, as anyone in their right mind would do, she hung up on her. That obviously didn’t turn out very well considering around ten-ish minutes later of Alex completely forgetting about the phone call and indulging herself in this show, Willow showed up at her door. Curious about what the noise from outside her bedroom door was coming from, she was delighted to see her parents and Willow having a full-on conversation about how Alex needs to loosen up.

This resulted in going out, because when does Alex ever get her way? “It’s a Friday night,” her dad says—and Willow follows—of course. If only dad knew that this was a /party/ party, then he might not be as enthusiastic, but what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.

Now reunited with her small friend group of about everyone at the party, things aren’t so bad. Well, besides the fact that everyone is sweaty and the music is way too loud for the eardrum and if you just turn the corner you might bump into a couple making out, but other than that, everything’s fine.

In an attempt to deter from the crowd, the girl shuffled her way into the living room and up through the also crowded stairs, eventually finding her way into the bathroom. Success. Glancing at the squeaky clean toilet with the lid shut and shutting the door behind her, she swiveled to the large mirror held above the sink. “Yikes,” she grumbled, poking at her under eye bags. “I want more than anything for this night to be over.”

Hello there lovely! I am Julia from the OOC committee, and I shall be critiquing your beautiful OC today! I will be sharing with you my opinions on what I feel you did well, and what I feel you could do to improve some aspects of this character.

. .

Wow. Can I just say, as soon as I saw this wiki I instantly fell in love with it, so it is an absolute pleasure to be critiquing this today. The aesthetic is absolutely stunning and so is the face claim, I can tell you put a lot of effort into writing this, I rarely see wikis these days that are detailed like this, so it’s nice to see something like this every once in a while! This definitely deserved the feature it got! You are very talented my lovely.

. .

• I really liked that at the start of the wiki you provided a mood board that fit in with your character, just by looking at it I got a slight understanding of what your character likes, and gave us an insight on her personality in a way. It’s not very often that I see people making mood boards for their characters, and I feel like it is an amazing addition, it’s honestly so beautiful, so a huge well done.

. .

• The amount of detail you put into this OC is honestly shocking, in a good way. I love how detailed you were with every single section of this wiki. You explained everything so perfectly and in detail, and the details weren’t too overwhelming to the point where the reader would lose interest.

. .

The only mistakes I noticed was that you didn’t use capital letters for names, this is important because names should always have capital letters at the start, so I’d say before posting your wiki you should definitely check through this in the future, but it is a very common mistake so don’t worry! I very much enjoyed reading this today, it put a smile on my face :revolving_hearts:

I think instead of putting the teaser to your oc at the bottom, it’s better at the top because then it gives the reader an insight and understanding early on, Which will definitely want them to continue reading, but apart from that I must say this oc is absolutely perfect! I look forward to seeing your future characters, and hopefully I will get to critique your future works!

With that being said, my critique to your oc has come to an end, continue being an amazing oc creator! :two_hearts: - Julia (OCC Committee)

i don’t mean anything demeaning, I’m curious — So what made you put this effort into her?

honestly it’s nothing other than the fact that i came into it with the goal of getting featured

which probably isn’t the best idea because that draws you away from the true intention of the character—for them to be as realistic and relatable as possible

idk! she’s my youngest oc and as i went i guess it just made sense for her to have this long backstory and deep qualities

it definitely didn’t happen over night. i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t working on this since april

ah alright. I just never really understood why people make really big OCs when you know someone is gonna look at it and say nice and thats it. Self satisfaction seems a bit realistic for this effort, it seems.
