if you asked covey, their parents should be jailed for the names they gave their children. it had to be some sort of defamation of character against innocent infants. they could have at least changed the order of the names, arthur covey wynn. he has no idea where the name covey even came from, just that they loved it so much they had to bestow it upon their firstborn child. arthur, a family name, ed down from son to son on his father's side. he would have hated being arthur jr., but he could have lived with it. he did, for a time, when he begged his high school peers to call him arthur or art instead.

he's grown up to appreciate his name a bit for it's uniqueness, not entirely outgrowing his childhood hatred. it doesn't really have a plethora of nicknames, besides "cuv" or "cuvs", which he tends to despise more than his given name.

there was nothing special about covey's birth, that regular old story of rushing to the hospital and waiting throught labor and whatever. they were born on the late afternoon of august first, a healthy and happy baby boy.

though they were born and raised in st. george, it never truly felt like home. probably because he was shipped off to boarding school by the time he was old enough to think for himself. the only real fondness he found from that little town was the relief from school, spending their summers running wild and staying out til the sun went down, then staying out some more. they don't quite get homesick, but something adjacent.

while the birth story might have been boring, covey's birthday bashes are anything but. she has a flair for the extravagant, blowing a fair stack to celebrate another year of staying alive. booze, cake, and a million of her closest friends are the bare minimum, and they find a way to outdo themselves each ing year.

growing up in a rural town under conservative parents, being cisgender and heterosexual was the only way to live. it wasn't until middle school that covey realized he wasn't "normal", whatever that might be.

for the time being, covey is simply covey. man, woman, whatever. their gender is flip-flopy, dressing and expressing themselves however they see fit. they are definitely queer, attracted to exclusively men, but that's about the only certainty. life is too short to toil over meaningless labels.

covey is just a boring white man, plain and simple. his father was born in australia, and his father before him, but their lineage can be traced back to great britain. his mother is french, direct from paris. he has no idea what compelled her to move or live in australia. running away from something perhaps, just like him.

though they have lived in the states for some time now, they still haven't become an official citizen yet. they are still of sole australian nationality, though it will be a big day when they finally hold double citizenship.

native to a country with english as its de facto national language, english is clearly covey's mother tongue. there was never really a need to learn another language, outside of the fact that his mother's first language was not english. she was fluent, but she still spoke frequently in french. it became a habit to speak casually in french around the house, for the whole family. he doesn't a lot of words or gramatical structure, so he wouldn't say he's fluent. or anything close to fluent, truly.

covey is conventionally attractive- and he knows it. ever since he was a teenager, people have found a way to comment on his appearance- some creepier than others. he revels in it regardless, and it's hard not to get a little egotistical when you've heard it so many times.

it's not just his rugged charm that gets him attention; he makes for quite a gorgeous girl. he expresses himself however he sees fit, masculine one day and feminine the next. it's all just plain covey at the end of the day, though plain is the last word he would use to describe himself.

stuck with his natural hair at boarding school regulatory length for years, covey never wants to go back now. with its lack of total texture, he's done just about all you can do with it, and has finally settled into a look he enjoys for now. it's a little shaggy, grown out ino a more medium than short length. he's a natural brunette, but has bleached his hair too often just to get away with calling themselves "dirty blonde". there are still remnants of his bleach blonde era to be found, though it's more of a shitty frosted tip by now. he's just letting it do its thing for now, til he decides how to detroy it next.

though he loves his natural hair, he is also a frequent wig wearer. he's had his fair share of atrocious styles, so there is a very small tried and true collection that he relies upon. ginger is his shade of choice, though black isn't out of the question. the only requirement is long with some flattering bangs, and that's all he needs to curate the perfect look.

he's fairly pale nowadays, the gloomy weather of new york taking all the golden coast tan out of him. he still has a smattering of freckles across his face and body, little kisses from the sun that rarely comes to see him anymore.

new york weather will never take his physique, that's for certain. he's proud of his build, spending years of sports and training to keep himself lean and muscular. he's not ripped, just toned enough, and especially buff in the arms (thank you high school tennis). it's no wonder where his ego comes from, with a body like that.

broke or not, covey will always find a way to look good. ever since he was only enough to rain his mother's closet, he's learned his fine taste. in the era of belated teenage rebellion, clothing has become a little more sleazy. anything that shows off a bit (or more than a bit) of chest or a flash of stomach or waistline, and he's all over it. he's not shy in the slightest about his body- obviously.

he only has two tattoos as of now, one of which will definitely be a source of embarrassment once he grows up and learns better. his first tattoo was a matching stick and poke with his sister, a small cluster of stars along the bottom of his ribcage on the right side. it still looks decent to this day, done by a trusted friend who actually knew what they were doing. the second tattoo is relatively recent, a post-break up decision to usher in covey's maneater era; a tattoo along his lower abdomen. there's no particular design to it, just some elaborate linework off a flash sheet. though he'll probably hate it in the future, it's his absolute favorite body modification to date.

in of other modifications, covey also has a couple of piercings too. standard ear piercings, of course, usually wearing studs or the occasional hoop. his more risqué piercings are his dermals, in his lower back, right in the venus dimples. they've finally healed all the way, so covey is enjoying showing them off until he inevitably gets sick of them.

covey is a lot to handle, to put it plainly. their personality can be a bit of an acquired taste, especially on first impressions. vain, definitely boisterous, maybe to a point of not even realizing how much and how loud they are talking. they are street-smart and book-smart too, despite acting like a total airhead to be the damsel in distress when they want to. they are fiercely independent, almost to a fault, until they let themselves be naively lulled into some sense of security, in one place or another. all that sass can get a little grating after a while, but it's really just a front. covey has such a big heart, letting their inner circle in and keeping them as close as possible.

sports have been covey's primary hobby since he was a school boy- tennis, primarily. when you have no choice in taking on an extracurricular, you pick the easiest looking one. while his initial perception of tennis was way off base, covey has come to love the game over the years. he boasts several accolades from high school and his early twenties, a handful of very unimportant titles under his belt. these days, he doesn't have too many people to play competitively against besides his lovely, who, bless his heart, isn't quite on the ssme level as covey yet. it doesn't matter to covey; it's all time well spent and cherished, after all.

when you live on practically a shoestring budget, new clithes are a luxurious; a statement thats like a knife to covey's heart. however, they are fairly gifted with scissors and needle and thread, so there is no reason to fret. even if their partner spoils them, they'll never give up their roots of turning shirts to dresses and dresses to jackets and whatever mixed up rotation you can think of.

clubbing and dancing are two different things, at least to covey. i.e., dancing in a club verus ballroom dancing. now, covey doesn't ballroom dance, but he is a damn good swing dancing partner. he never would have gotten into it on his own, but his roommate practically begged him to come along with her to lessons until he finally said yes. he may have acted like it was an inconvenience at first, but he's come a long way; in both dancing and itting that he enjoys it.

covey doesn't fear much. in all their 27 years, they've seen and dealt with a lot. the one thing that you can't protect yourself from is from other people leaving, whatever their reason might be. he's been discarded and lonely plenty of times, and it never gets any easier to deal with- especially if you dont have the healthiest of coping mechanisms.

it might be a bit of a shallow dream, but who hasn’t felt it just once. that pull to fame, the need to be ired and appreciated by nearly everyone. a variety of reasons why come to mind, but mostly covey wants to be known for their music. they put so much of their life into their art, it would be a shame if no one ever listened to it.

music is also the reason covey wants to go back to school. though music is an art form in itself, being academically inclined never hurt anyone. she dropped out of school because of a man, and trust she wont make that mistake again. when they officially get their act together, a return to higher education is definitely one of the first orders on the docket.

covey has always been physically healthy, never getting any sicker than a yearly flu, at the most. there honestly isn't much to say about his physical health, besides wishing for many more years of it.

considering everything covey has been through, their mental health is surprisingly decent. the past is the past, a manic, depressing amalgamation of memories they would much rather suppress. they haven't exactly been healthy about their mental health journey, but they are in a good place these days. it's definitely not something they take for granted.

the unfortunate downside of covey's lifestyle is how often it invites in drug and alcohol abuse. if he's out in the clubs, there is a 100% chance that he will have a shot or hit or bump of something that should probably be illegal.

while his early years in the city were filled with this reckless partying, he's become more domesticated over time. while he still drinks and dabbles in substances, he has gotten himself in check in recent years.

ophélie loves covey. she always has, in her own way. covey loves his mother too, even if she makes it hard to do. though she never stands up to her husband and his old-fashioned ideals and the filth he spouts, she still finds a way to covey. even after years away from home and very little , she finds a way to send money and little packages to covey here and there. covey appreciates the gesture, even if a thank you note never makes it in the mail.

in covey's eyes, he doesn't have a father. biologically, yes, but he doesn't desire to have any connection with him besides a last name- and even that is pushing it. arthur made his choice years ago, sending his only son off to boarding school rather than accepting the fact that he might be queer. covey decided at that young age that he didn't need a father after all, as much as the absence still stings.

katie and covey's relationship is very on and off, for lack of better phrasing. they get along just fine, it's the keeping in that tends to be difficult for them. they are both to independent for their own good, and maybe they just dont fully understand each other. but covey will always be there, as much of a reliable older brother as they can be, simply waiting for the day their paths will cross again.

silvie and covey first met through an ment in the local news, a single white female looking for a roommate. though silvie may have been apprehensive at the idea of a male roommate, they were both short on money and out of options. fortunately, it turned out to be one of their best decisions of their lives. though they couldn't be more different personality wise, they are basically twins everywhere else- oceanian immigrants obsessed with american baseball, movies, and swing dancing. sylvie has become like another sister to covey, and she'll always be one of his favorite people.
