3. Death the Kid as Temperance

- Meaning: Balance, harmony, self restraint/self control, inner peace, an equalibrium.

- Reversed: A reversal of the Temperance card can mean imbalance, discordance, disarray, and impatience.

• Interpretation: His need to maintain balance and the effect it has on his drive and beliefs, his aspiration and determination to fight for a better world, progressively becoming more focused and locked in to his goals, missions, and aspirations as he grows throughout the series, his ability to control his inner madness and emotions in combat, his destiny to become a leader and guardian of the next generation and how much respect and honour he treats this title with.

The reversal of the card can also symbolize his flipped morality and corrupted psyche under the influence of madness, turning from a person who was willing to power through anything to fight for humanity and create a perfect world, to a mad god who was willing to destroy and erase it all in order to reach his warped view of total perfection.

☆ the third tarot card is finally complete! i was so thrilled to get to draw Kid again, it's been far too long. i was very happy with how he came out in my Monster High AU, but i feel very confident in how my stylization abilities have come since then, and how much i've improved over the years in general. he looks so pretty here, i love how purples and violets look on him, with that beautifully striking yellow in his eyes as a stark contrast.

☆ i really wanted to draw his madness affected form in the reversed version of the card, since i've always loved how much of a perfect reversal it is of his character. Kid, if you ask me personally, is such a strongly written character with such a perfect arc and a very clear, iconic personality. And to completely flip that on its head, well, that arc within the manga has stayed with me for so many years for a very good reason. I truly think it's one of the best written examples of Kid's characterization, as well as his dynamic with Liz, Patty, and Black Star- why they're so important and instrinsicly connected to each other- in the entire series.

☆ God. Kid is so good. Soul Eater's so good, guys.
