A Questionable Victory

Pi was happy today. She had succeeded in capturing her master's enemy, Kirsten Icengrove, easily. She had found her prey walking on the Golden Road, twisting and turning to make sure no one was following her. Yet she hadn't been watching the sky. Not in the least. Which was why, as Pi swooped down from above and snatched her up, while sprinkling some stun powder on her eyelids, "Kirsten" wasn't able to offer any resistance. Cackling with glee, Pi had flown towards the headquarters at full speed, her captive tied up like a mere sausage and secured on the broom.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Kirsten peered at the rapidly disappearing witch through the branches of a tree on the edge of the forest. The Druid smiled triumphantly before climbing back onto Calanthe's back. Kirsten followed suit, securing her hood and gently stroking Dawn's neck as the mare pawed the ground excitedly.

"Alright. , we must not be seen. Keep your hood up at all costs, and follow me as carefully as possible. Let us see if we can find their hideout."

Kirsten nodded silently, head bent, her thoughts elsewhere.

"This is it", she said to herself, "if we succeed, I'll be able to save everyone. If we succeed, I'll see my mom again! And the Kallters can be free as well. It's all my fault... I have to fix my mistakes!"

Unknowingly attributing all the blame and pressure to herself, Kirsten had developed a strong sense of duty, rendering the option of failure unthinkable, maybe even fatal. If any of her current goals ended up unaccomplished, the consequences threatened to be severe, both on a mental and a physical level.

Pip the Valliant swayed on her shoulder and said:

"You know, little Kirrrsten, I think you can allow yourself to make mistakes every once in a while. Mistakes are human of course, and, fortunately, I am not a human. Usually eating a little cheese helps— pardon me—"

He reached inside the saddle bag and brought out a chunk of Cheddar which he immediately began nibbling. Between two noisy mouthfuls, he said:

"Me thinks thou must remove the pressure. We shall see what happens when we arrive!"
