Day 6: Least Favorite Character

Ghibli has lots of wonderful characters, but there are two that are my least favorite.

Muska

Seita and Setsuko's Aunt

In my opinion, both are horrible people. Majority of Ghibli "villians" at least have reasoning behind their actions, these two are just plain evil. [Although the lesser of the two evils would be the Aunt, because she at least looked after her own family and helped out her neice and nephew for a while]

✘Selfish and Greedy

✘Power hungry

✘No concern for human life, even for soldiers or his secret angents who worked under him

✘Ruthless

✘Despises nature

✘Wants to use Laputa as a weapon

✘Kidnaps Sheeta

✘Uses Sheeta to gain his power

✘Locks Pazu up and lies to Sheeta about it

✘Bribes Pazu to leave

✘Distrustful

✘Wants to be a tyrant

✘How did such a horrible man become a government agent?

✘He is an irrational, crazed and conceited man and when placed next to Sheeta the contrast is great

✘His face shows his evil behavior for he always has an evil smirk on his face or has crazed spurts of anger

✘Selfish and Greedy

✘Really doesn't care much about her sisters death

✘Takes care of her family and takes from Seita and Setsuko

✘Eat all the food Seita and Setsuko's family buried before the air raid

✘Pressures them into selling their mothers belongings

✘Guilt trips them constantly

✘Feeds them less

✘Believes they must apologize for feeding themselves

✘Doesn't let them have fun or be kids

✘Causes them to run off and live in the bomb shelther because it was a better option than staying with her

✘Tells Setsuko of her mothers death against Seita's wishes

✘Honestly how does she call herself a mother

✘Her face conveys her uncaring detached attitude towards her neice and nephew. She could care less about the two of them (She just let's them go without a care!)

Overall, these two characters have no good intentions. Both are harsh towards the young main characters and only seek their own benefit through their actions. Muska and the aunt both use the main characters to gain something from and in the end hurt the characters. Sheeta is taken away from her home and Seita and Setsuko both suffer from the aunt. (I promise no spoilers :wink: ) In the end, these two characters are my least favorite. They portray the worst of humanity and downright awful.
