It's me anusha/aurelia back here again ! So I got enough time to write about this topic so I decided to post a blog on this. I don't know this intro is going cuz I'm writing only nonsense. Being honest, I always wanted to do a blog on this topic.

﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋

The time is when the world is getting consciously active on climate change. This roses the question upon whether notetaking and journalling should go paperless or not. Take a deeper look :

p R o S ° ✦ . *

-`going paperless saves paper♡

Its quite obvious to think that because wheb we say paper, we realise it's made from trees. This somehow contributes to our step against climate change. Some journalling styles need pictures, which wastes paper and ink in printing while paperless journalling needs just to import the pictures.

-`going paperless is cost-friendly♡

Buying journals, papers, notebooks, pens, highlighters can actually be a lot costly isn't it ? But if we see, spending money on all of this combined might be a bit expensive that actually buying an iPad and a Pencil.

-`going paperless gives you more options♡

When it comes to taking notes/journalling, a lot of us like the option to have tons of colours to choose from. Don't get me wrong but one would choose going paperless over the fact that thry have so many options. Journalling ( specially bujo and kpop ) requires a lot of colours, decorations etc. Another instance is that you can use thousands of fonts, which might not be possible to be designed by hands, and such many options.

-`going paperless affects us♡

Not a joke but its true that there are amny which apend almost an hour making notes or pages of ue journal. The one who does borh is affected a lot. How? The answer is quite obvious. Using screens affect our eyes and sleep. Less sleep results in tired eyes which can lead to health problems. Using phone/tab or any ther screen to make notes/journal is equivalent to using them for general purposes. And I'm not wrong, each one of us use our phones after studying. Each hour counts. We see that while using paer we don't have to really face such problems.

-`going paperless increases distraction♡

*& as I was watching a study-realted video by [revisign|instagram.com/revisign] on YouTube, I realised this could be a point.*

Okay, so the thing is, when we use iPad (or anything digital) it's some sorts of screen, right? So,there will be a time when you'll be like "I'm tired, let's have a break." And most of is would prefer to watch some YouTube or check their social media and the end. You'll be sucked in an "bottomless vortex" or never ending place (sorry for thay weird explanation). And that 5 minute break turns into a 1 hour procrastination. And there you go, you don't want to study.

Whereas, going paperless we can see the same distraction but if we keep our digital stuff away we can be a bit lazy to just go and pick it up from there.

Making long thing short, going paerless increases distraction as the 'distraction' is just before our eyes while on the other hand, we'll have to fetch the 'distraction'.

-`going paperless means the effort is gone♡

Do you know about the effort rule ? It is something quite related to this topic. It says : when we put more effort, we retain more information. Watch a video on this here to get clear. When we go paperless, it means not using our effort. It is almost the same as typing. If coming to journalling in specific, the same is here too. It is same as typing how your day was or to-do list on your phone. Also, when you flip it back, you'll actually feel that the effort you put in it is gone.

You see the points given in the 'CoNs' were quite long compared to the 'PrOs'. I'm sorry if this is some sorts of biasing to one end but I've tried my best to show both are important.

At the end, we see that we can't ignore the technology but at same time we can't neglect the old traditional methods. Instead of going to one side, we should try to use both equally.

Coming to the part you were waiting for, THE END ! Thank you so much for reading this loong post till the end! I appreciate the time uou gave to it. If there was something you felt wasn't mentioned, please feel free to mention ! Meet chu soon.

For studying purposes, I can see where the positives come from, however for school note taking purposes, it doesnt work for everybody, some schools (including mine) dont allow you to have electronics out in class, so the only way to take notes is via writing them down in a book.

Going paperless has been amazing for me! Writing on traditional paper hurts my hands so much and since I started writing on a tablet they barely hurt after long sessions of notetaking. It also makes to so I have less stuff to carry around when I go study.

Also I disagree with the last con. I retain the information I write down on my tablet the same as if I was writing on paper.

I feel like yes, going paper-less is a good idea but, after reading the cons it isn’t the best. So how about we just don’t buy excessive amounts of note books and only buy one once the old one is full. Yes, sometimes if it’s old you might like to buy a new one and start afresh but how about you get creative and decorate it instead?

That’s a fun task to do and then you might feel better knowing that you aren’t wasting any paper :relaxed:

I have a bit of a mix of the two, I take all my class notes on an iPad and some other stuff because it’s synched I can access everything wherever i’am. So that would be another pro to it. Plus I can add pictures, drawings and diagrams so much easier. I love taking notes on the iPad and scribbling on it!

Then there are a couple of subjects for which I use paper, economics and art. Plus I make summaries and print those out. I mostly try to be paperless for school though.
