Hello, and welcome to another blog post about preparing to study for tests and exams!

I don’t know how much value this is for you, but if I can help anyone, then that’s great! Let’s just jump right into it:)

••••••••••••

1. Plan how to study!

What I mean is to make a plan. Set up date and time for when to study, for example;

- Psychology chapter 1 at 08:00-09:00.

- Break from 09:00-09:15.

- Chemistry from 09:15-10:30

- Break from 10:30-10:45

- Repeat and review psychology notes

And so on, you get the idea.

2. Take breaks!!!

You have probably seen everyone write this tip, so IT HAS TO BE IMPORTANT!! And it is very inporant. If you tire out your brain by filling it up too fast, you will probably have a harder time ing it. This is individual, of course, but what works best for me is to study intensely for 1-1.5 hours and then have a 15-30 minutes break. You have to find out what works best for you🧡

3. Eat some snacks

But not the sugary stuff... I’m sorry... If you snack on sweets, your blood sugar will rocket up and you’ll feel great! For a while... Then you come crashing down faster than a meteor and probably loose all your motivation to study.

My tip? Eat fruits! (Frozen) raspberries, (frozen) grapes, apple slices with cinnamon, peanut butter, dark chocolate, there are so many options!!🥰 These will help stopping your blood sugar from falling and keep your concentration and motivation going!

4. Give youself rewards! :yellow_heart: 🧡

Yes, rewards! After a while it is easy to loose motivation, so give yourself something to look farward to!

For example if you’re studying chemistry but you’re just sick and tired of reading and taking notes and reading and taking notes and reading again!! What if you write some big and small rewards on post-its and stick them to different pages. If your goal is to get through page 1-35, stick a note at page 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35! It depends on the length and the ammount of text on the pages, but that could be an example.

Rewards don’t have to be grand or tiny. They could be ‘have a piece of chocolate’ (not the entire plate, even if it is tempting...) or if you enjoy playing the piano, ‘play for 10 minutes on the piano!’ Or maybe you desverve something a bit bigger. Maybe a new pen! So when you have finished pretty much or everything you can go to the store and give yourself that pen you’ve wanted since forever! It feels way better than just bying the pen, because now you’ve actually earned it!

5. Don’t study at home.

There are waaaay too many distractions at home, so I like to go to a cafe or a library, most likely a cafe, because you can’t give up in there. Or is it just me that feels that way...? There are fewer distractions too, and I really like the white noice from cafes. If I do study at home, I often listen to ASMR rooms on YouTube where you can choose differet sceneries. I like the Harry Potter library one!

Good luck and don’t give up! If you have trouble with procrastination like me, you can read my tips on ‘how to beat procrastination’ on my profile :relaxed:

For me, home is the best place to learn in. I don't get to learn things at school. Television and family aren't distracting in my opinion.
