My Career Challenge

I set out on my university adventure in April this year

starting with an access to education diploma

studying IT, child and youth lives and learning, and learning techniques

and this was just the beginning, to get used to being a student again

From next fall, I will be studying my personalised degree

with focus on child development, education and psychology

I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to build a degree to suit me

after completing my degree I will make a decision as to whether to continue and complete a masters degree

The career I am working towards is... potentially not even a career

I have no idea how long I will be physically fit to work

and so I do not want to set huge goals for myself

I could be able to work for years with few issues

I could struggle to work more than a few days, for a few hours, per week

and so I aim to work on a voluntary basis, if I cannot do more

My choice of occupation is... unusual?

I would be happy to work in a school, either as a teacher or a TA

but with my diagnoses I took the time to think about what I would like to do, if I am not able to do that

and I realised that I would love to be able to take learning and creativity to children who maybe have no access to it

Children who are in hospital long term, perhaps forever

I want to take something “more” to them than their life in a hospital

Children in the care system who have no school

I would also like to do further study into art and play therapy for children
